Detroit won, but that game proved (again) that Green Bay is very, very good. They are a legitimate threat to Detroit in the post-season.

Vikings over Falcons to push the NFC South loser out of the playoff hunt Giants over Saints (though that one doesn't really matter...more to keep NO from thinking they're good) Raiders over Bucs to push the NFC South loser out of the playoff hunt Seahawks over Cardinals to keep the status quo in...

Do We Strategically Lose To The Eagles in December with the aim of conquest in January?

If things are locked in and cannot change, then I think you can do certain things differently at a level ABOVE the players. You could call different plays, play backups earlier, etc. But I don't think you can "lose on purpose" in a sport like football.

Yeah, beating Atlanta also nudges the Bucs into the division winner role and removes them from competition for the playoff spot. Maybe that was implied in your post!

New Orleans seems to be the swing game (in my mind). I think the Dallas rematch and the Atlanta game are W's while the Philly rematch is a potential L. If Washington beats the Saints, I don't see anyone else getting to 11-6. If not, I see a small amount of danger of Tampa getting to 10-7. I...

It all makes perfect sense...I guess I just can't get over the fact that almost without exception, he does perfectly fine with that talent for 6-8 games and then regresses. Regardless of the state of the roster, his late-season results were worse than his early-season results. So, as someone who...

KDawg - I'm sure they are trying too. I'm not a coach like you are (I'm not creepy, I just remember you from ES), so I don't notice all the intricacies. But, some of the reason that these guys (even the ones who aren't the head coaches) make millions is because they are expected to figure out...

KDawg - great points of course. I agree with you and don't think there's any point in any drastic changes, necessarily. Just that, maybe when focusing on Kingsbury himself, it's a counter punch that he needs to consider to step his game up. How will he avoid these circumstances in the future or...

That is very good context. I suppose my only point is that no matter who your players are, when you drop off by a TD it still shows regression of the effectiveness of your scheme (assuming you're working with mostly the same players).

That's an interesting way to view things. I like it. Kyler got hurt one of those years for sure and must have contributed. I assumed it was the season with the 7+ point drop off, but I don't recall. As for all offenses regressing as the season wears on...it's logical, but I'm not sure. I just...

Interesting. I look at the numbers you posted and see something different. I'd say that the data supports a significant offensive regression in every season other than 2019. When you split his seasons into halves, the first halves outperform the second halves by a large margin points...

    2024/2025 Playoff Standings

I understand and think we're talking past each other. As of this moment, we control our own destiny. The fact that at this time next week it's possible that we won't is mind boggling considering that a month ago we were a 2-loss team and some fans were wondering if we might challenge for the...

    2024/2025 Playoff Standings

No I get that. I think there's a very, very good chance that Washington gets the 7-seed. All I'm saying is that if Tampa slips ahead at any point in the next week or two then, by definition, the Skins don't "control their own destiny" because they'll be needing Tampa or Atlanta to lose games...

    2024/2025 Playoff Standings

I guess we will see...we are in control of our own destiny for at least another week. I wouldn't say that we are "likely" to stay that way for the remainder of the season. Unless you believe we will never slide out of the 7 slot. For a team that has dropped 3 straight (and is one fortunate...

    2024/2025 Playoff Standings

So crazy how quickly things change. Just a few weeks ago, people could dare to dream about a 1-seed and/or hosting multiple playoff games. Now, it's another scrambling and chaotic group of scenarios where Washington likely won't even fully control its own destiny to slide into the lowest seed in...

Official Game Thread - Week 12 - Commanders vs. Dallas @NW - GIDDY UP!

We all know this is false or, at best, misleading right? Rush is 2-0 against Washington in games he's started. I suppose it's possible that he's mopped up in other games where Dallas went 2-1...

I think that's likely also, but we just saw that the better team doesn't always win.

    2024/2025 Playoff Standings

I think 10 will be enough as long as Tampa finishes with 9 wins. To me, that's the calculus. Washington can tie Arizona and get the berth, but needs to finish ahead of Tampa.

    2024/2025 Playoff Standings

Yeah, I guess what I'm saying is that at 10-7, with Tampa's schedule and the fact that they are playing pretty well, they could jump Washington if they win 5 of their final 6. Not a given, but not impossible with Carolina twice, Dallas, New Orleans, Las Vegas, and LA. I could see them possibly...

    2024/2025 Playoff Standings

I'd be worried about Tampa also. Their schedule is soft down the stretch (Carolina twice, Raiders, and Dallas on the easy side plus New Orleans and Chargers on the tougher side). Since they have the head-to-head over Washington, that one would concern me just as much as Arizona.
