    Many years ago someone who was very knowledgeable in vegetable gardening convinced me to try fish fertilizer. Two days later my one garden bed was completely dug up plants torn out tossed everywhere. First I thought raccoons, but I caught the culprit his name was Blaze, my boxer mix at the time.

    I have grass around my bed, but if I were to redo I would use smallest gravel available. Good pollinators like the gravel. Bad insects like wood mulch. Picked the last of my lettuce today and the first green beans.

    I crunch up all my egg shells and sprinkle them around my tomatoes and lightly stir up the soil around them, no more end rot.

    Mickalino. Have you tried cilantro. It's the only herb I tried last year and wasn't impressed but I just let it air dry in a paper bag for a few days, maybe the oven method makes a difference. This year I've got thyme growing. I'll try it.

    Lettuce, onions, green beans, cilantro, and tomatoes is it for this year. Still have frozen peppers from last year I had so many. Of course perfer fresh but limited on space.

    I didn't seem to find a link for the Pickem contest at the top of any page, but I was able to navigate there thru the menu tab and join and make picks for week 1. However can't get back there again, like if I wanted to edit picks.
