2026 Commanders Training Camp

JCM is a 4.4 forty guy. Allen ran 4.5 at the combo. He’s not slow. Maybe not a barn burner but he breaks tackles frequently and makes good decisions/has good vision. We’ll see what he can do at this next level.

Explosion is not just measured in 40 times. It's making the quick cut and an explosive first few steps after the cut. JCM has it, Allen does not IMO.

As for the TE coach I'm not trying to diminish the significance of a DWI. But coaches have had this in the past and it's not been a fireable offense. Seems this was a panic move at a terrible time, we need Sinnott to improve and this is an important coaching job.

I don't like Alegretti at center either but the rookie is supposed to be pretty advanced and I hope he wins the job.

Problem is JCM doesn’t always see the right cut. Sometimes vision is more important—both is obviously the sweet sauce to an explosive playmaker

I don’t see how it can be a panic move, he’s been on leave away from the team for 7 weeks, before finally being fired. Whatever their reasons, they gathered plenty of info before firing him. They may already have had a replacement in mind for a while (slim pickings this time of year regardless)

I’m always on board to criticize sloppy personnel and staffing plans, but they took their time on this, it just wasn’t reported at the time. This wasn’t a snap panicky decision

I am not sure Quinn would have had any better options in all honesty. He might be a dead coach walking. And no one of any quality wants to walk into that situation. This is such a huge year for the future of this franchise. The decision on Quinn and whether or not JD is truly the long term answer are among the things that make this season exciting for me. If we completely crash and burn again I wont be shocked to see us completely rebuild during the next off season. This upcoming draft is a really special one imo.

I don't think he is that advanced. He has one year of college starts at each interior position RG, LG and C. It will take time to get accustomed to the NFL no less to the C position as being his home. He is a leader and anchors extremely well and has been very good in pass protection and would probably be best a zone blocking scheme. If he can get the hang of things he could be a good backups for Allegretti and perhaps compete for the starting role if Allegretti can't sustain or gets injured. We have 3 C's with limited C experience.

Spot on. Calling a firing seven weeks after the incident a "panic move" is a stretch. If this were a knee-jerk decision, they would’ve canned him the Friday after the arrest back in June just to clear the news cycle.

And, look at Chris Foerster out in SF...dude literally filmed himself ripping lines of blow off his desk inside a team facility and today he’s the Asst. HC and OL coach. To me, that says the league just doesn't force a franchise's hand over off-field legal or substance issues for coaches like it does players.

If an organization views a coach as indispensable, they stick by him, issue a public statement about getting him help, and ride out the news cycle.

Apparently Steele was not indispensable.
 
I’m interested in finding out how much Jayden and the rest of the starters on offense will be playing this preseason. With a new offensive system, id like to see them getting more work than last August. Plus, with the difficult start to the regular season, it’s important to make sure everyone is on the same page. Can’t afford a slow start.

What’s everyone’s prediction, game by game, of how much they start?
 
Can you imagine Aiyuk showing up in the crowd at one of the open team practices? Wonder how that would go...

More than in previous seasons would be my bet - and I'm guessing that will be true across the board not only because it's a tough early schedule, but because bubble-wrapping starters hasn't worked out so well in previous seasons.
 
Chiefs always seem to play their starters a decent amount in the preseason and they’re the gold standard lately. I’d like this offense to get as many reps as possible considering how up and down (and some may argue cursed) they were last season.

What evidence do we have that JCM has bad vision and made poor cuts? From what I saw his production dropped because the line failed and there was nowhere to go. The center was undersized and later released, the starting LG was such a poor run blocker that he tested the market and found there was no market for a starting left guard.

I can only go on what I have seen. And I'll never be convinced that Allen is as explosive at JCM. He looks more like BRob, a big back who will move piles but won't provide explosive plays. Still being the all time rushing leader at Penn State is incredibly impressive given their list of RBs.

Evidence? My eyes. I didn’t say he has poor vision, he’s not a disaster. I can tell you from watching him play that it’s not a great strength of his though, he’s average at best, and if it was better his explosiveness might be special. As it stands he really needs to brush up the rest of his game to make up for the fact that he’s missing some opportunities. Because when he does catch that daylight, he’s gone.

And the defense had absolutely zero fear of the passing attack and so stacked the line every down.

And Mariota is a scrub that other teams know that they can get in his head with pressure.
