Next Day Thread: You Must Be Lion

Just saw a different angle of the Luvu hit on Goff, on ****ing TikTok, of course. In the angle from behind Luvu, it looks like a head to head collision. There is another angle from Goff's right side and you can clearly see that there is no head to head contact. It's head to upper chest, and not leading with the crown. They got the call right. They didn't miss it. So, if Detroit wants to to the, "what if", mental gymnastics, they can just subtract 7 from their score for the TD they scored after we stopped them and they got the fake face mask call. We win by 21.
Yeah, I’ve seen that angle too. It’s clear he hits him with his hands right into the chest. It’s a brutal hit, but it’s not a foul. Even when Pereira is explaining it during the game. I’m just saying no, no, no as he is contradicting what he quoted in the rule about the QB trying to make a tackle. I’m still a little surprised they didn’t throw the flag as I’ve become conditioned to seeing a flag for any big hit. I think that also explains some of the arguments since the game about why it was a foul. I think people are convinced it was a foul because they were told so and because Goff went to be checked for a concussion. But that came from his head hitting the turf, not a helmet to helmet hit that never happened.

This is also why I don’t want my QB trying to make tackles on a turnover. I remember seeing Peyton Manning and Tom Brady running towards guys then running out of bounds as they got close to contact. They knew their value to the team was not in making a tackle and potentially getting hurt. People didn’t like it, but had they gotten hurt, you could guarantee their back ups would be throwing a lot more picks.

I don’t know if this is the same angle you were referencing, but I found this on Reddit where it shows a clear shove and not a helmet to helmet hit.

Okay, this surge of confidence is making me uncomfortable. :nervous:

House money man. We have nothing to lose. We go balls out and walk out with our heads held high. We know what we have and next year is even going to be better.

Breathe. We got this. I also have that older DS fear but you know what? This is a new team from heads to tails. I released that fear on Monday.

BELIEVE!

HTTR! ❤️

Zane starting the game by kicking off out of bounds and then ended it missing a FG. Donked the upright on a chipshot the week before. .... is his roster spot a lock? No one should ever question why Quinn goes for it on 4th down in FG range.
Yeah Seibert on IR was tough. Who knows if the magic would have continued but he was great for us. Like you I have little confidence in Gonzales.

Gonzales has been pretty good for us overall, but I am surprised that Siebert never made his way off IR.

If the crown of the Luvu's helmet did not make contact with Goff's chinn, it was damn close. That blur in Goffs upper chest is Frankies back half of his Riddel. Goffs helmet looks angled down a tad at impact which increases the chance the helmet at least got his mask and rocked his noggin before the plastic covered concrete got him. Or shows it was impacted. Jay Leno would have felt that one. But Frankie got his arms inside and was able to launch him proper.

Luvu is an animal so naturally my kid wants his jersey. Blood thirsty genes may run in the family. No one calls for a good ole fashioned harmless helmet on the chin to start games - its just me at this point. Regardless its just an expression to mean NAIL the QB and let him know its going to be a long day. They call roughing half the time a QB gets contacted many days including light taps on the head so its splitting hairs saying you can't hit em on the chin blah blah political correctness cry me a river.

I have theorized Siebs is in the dog house for not revealing he was injured - soon after he missed that XP he suddenly was on IR for what I think was a new injury (hammy). Maybe he got injured on that, or his lame duck dribble onside immediately afterwards where the Dallas player ran by him to score and he made no effort to tackle him, but its all spilt milk now.

Maybe he got the new injury in the game and simply didnt tell Quinn when he should have - presume info Quinn could have used in deciding if he should kick the XP or go for 2. Players don't always reveal injuries so they don't lose their jobs / end their careers. Its not just in football of course. Maybe Quinn just had enough of XP drama. He had an ugly line drive XP or 2 that we laughed off cause they were good. Or maybe Quinn wanted a stronger leg for the home stretch.

You know its almost ironic how he nailed 7FGs in week 1 and then we became a team most likely to forgo kicking FGs to go for it on 4ths at the ~ highest rate in the league IIRC.

I don't go back quite as far as you do, I would have been 32 in '91 and at the peak of my enthusiasm. Not sure if you noticed, at first I always thought Norv Turner sucked the life out of me, but everyone I spoke with regardless of the team they rootedf for lost their passion a bit when they get in their mid-40's.

That's why it was so rare for me to run around the room pumping my fists and throwing my arms in the air in the touchdown signal during the long td to Terry and the Pick 6. It has to have been 20 years since I behaved this way and I have done it several times this year with so many last second wins and big plays in big games. It's been so much fun.
I was 26, and still really rabid about my fandom, even though I'd only lived in DC for 5 years as a very young kid - my Dad became a fan and made sure I was one too. Like you, I was less enthused as I got older. I'm pretty sure it's directly related to the terrible state of the franchise but it could have been age-related. I got drawn back in when ST21 died, and have suffered since.

It's been rare for me to show any emotion except quiet, seething rage during games, up until this year. Now that we're actually performing, it's come back. I'm at the point where my outbursts are scaring my cats. :ROFLMAO:

Couldn't JD5 kick it instead? It might be the first time a kickoff goes entirely out of the stadium.

Heh your post caused a flashback of Randall Cunningham punting on 3rd down for 73 yards. I bet Jayden could boom one without thinking about it. They do seem cut from the same physical mold... 6'4 210. Randall ran for 5K yards in his career.

Glad you made it over from ES

Was Luvu fined? I believe the hit started in the chest and the momentum carried him that way. You can even see in that pic that he aimed at his chest.

It's only controversial because it was a quarterback.

If that was an offensive lineman he would have been able to Protect himself much better with leverage and luvus helmet never would have made it all the way up to the bottom of his chin but it was a quarterback so not only are our minds thinking, Oop gotta make sure we don't breathe on this guy but it's a player who has very little contact balance in that situation so of course he got blown up and made it look much worse.

Don't wanna get hit don't try to make the tackle or pay the price like any other position player.

Yeah my dog is only 2 and had not been in the room with me when I was amped for a football game until this season. It was an adjustment for her.

I bet we would have heard if he was fined. I am curious if the very bottom bar of the facemask even qualifies as a head shot. Clearly with that chin strap nice and tight, the head will get a jolt. And Goff's did. Twice.

Joe had no such concerns for his chin

I threw my son in the air amid a celly and partially threw out my back. Me throwing him around the room is an adjustment for him, but he keeps asking for more.

Yeah, I would have thought we'd have heard about it too.

For the record, it never looked like a foul to me either. Mind you, even though I try to be fair I sometimes am guilty of seeing the play through burgundy-colored glasses.

Exactly. It's actually all Goff's fault. First of all it was a terrible throw. And then stupidly trying to impede our most physical player?

He's lucky to have made it back into the game. And lucky for us, he did. He sucked after that. BJ should have taken the ball out of his hands and leaned on Gibbs until we keyed on him. I think Gibbs had ~200 yards and we clearly had no answer.
