He is asking for 15-16 million a year
to cut culliver while he is injured would require an injury settlement
a mild to slim chance 4-5 QB are taken in the first round.
Could be be a strong player rated in the 10-15 range that falls to us
Not to get too technical, but the money isn't an issue.
If we wait until June 1st, we can cut both Culliver and Andre Roberts and free up $12 million a year. There are many other options too.
We could cut Garcon and replace him with Boldin, etc. The money is there--no doubt about it.
And for anyone reading this who believes that Scot wouldn't have interest, remember this:
McLovin gave out an 8-year, $80 million contract to Nate Clements in 2007. Biggest for CB at the time.
So you know he's interested. I'm sure there are probably 25 GMs in the league that are at least interested at some level.
The bigger questions are do we want to pay one guy that much? What is his personality? Does this send a bad message to other players? How would this change our draft, if at all? If we dumped Garcon for example, we might have to take a WR earlier than we wanted.
That has to be weighed against shutting down Dez and ODB four games a season. And having Breeland on the second best WR.
Culliver and Roberts? Or Josh Norman?
There's a lot to consider, but based on Scot's history, I won't be shocked in the least if we pull the trigger.
