I'm not sure what "proof" he could possibly publish unless Dan put pen to paper.

I've never considered him to be an attention whore. For him to make a statement like that, I don't doubt that he strongly believes it. If it had come from a "source" he would mention that.

Keim keeps saying that the reason RG3 is the starter is because Dan is making the call. If true, that's not good. I understand he feels like he invested a lot and wants to sell tickets, but when will he learn and leave the football decisions to football people?

These little tweets are pointless. Griffin looks good and Snyder hasn't done anything at all that warrants this. Why not just put "gossip and rumors" in front of them since they're such bullshit?

Granted, Snyder earned his critics. But personally, I don't give sports reporters any more benefit of doubt than I do Snyder.

I read and listen to Keim all the time. I've never seen or heard him make that leap all the way. He rides the fringe of it occasionally because some things are just inexplicable but I'd be interested in what you saw, heard, read that make you say that he keeps saying it??????
 
Twitter exists and it provides great access to both sports journalist, athlete, and even coach thoughts. Not liking the content of specific tweets is fine, but we absolutely want that kind of content here.

McD5 - if you or any of us believe that Snyder is making the player calls, determining who starts, etc...well, we are ****ing doomed plain and simple. That would also mean that the whole McLovin' hire is an absolute charade and that he's not the guy everyone here keeps saying he is. Because NO respectable GM is going to work for an owner who is telling him how to do his job.

So - because I believe that - I'm absolutely calling bullshit on the implication that the Redskins are giving Griffin another season because Danny Boy is demanding it. Applying simple logic, as has been attempted many times here, the organization committed tremendous resources to get a franchise QB and the far simpler explanation is that they've seen enough positives (including McLovin and Gruden) in Griffin to feel he warrants being the starter and getting (at least) one more season to see if he can continue to develop into a long-term answer at QB.

I like Keim - but he doesn't know any more than you or I do what conversations, decisions, or direction is going on behind the scenes. I spent several years being in the same rooms with Redskins staff as Keim did. The only thing he or any other media folks get that fans don't is a little more access to players and coaches and the chance to have close up observation of practices occasionally. If he wants to imply/speculate what's going on behind the scenes, that's fine - it's what reporters do - but it's not factual. That's his opinion. Period.
 
That's my only concern Boone. It's not RG3 vs. Cousins, Lich vs Long or D Hall vs. Breeland.

It's that it took him 20 years to realize that he needed a real GM, and I don't want it to take another 20 years to realize this lesson either.

Let the football people make the football decisions.

OK I see a tweet. Haven't seen or heard that before from him. Like I said he has skirted it but that's pretty direct. I pulled twitter off my phone don't look at it unless there is something good going on.
 
Well one way or another we're gonna find out if Bob has "it" or not. This season will let everyone know the direction to take.

For the record I truly believe McLuvs is calling ALL roster shots and if Dan is saying anything it's merely suggestions that McLuvs takes for only that. Suggestions not orders

You have zero evidence that's not exactly what is happening. Reposting the same tweets (which represent nothing but conjecture and opinion) doesn't constitute evidence.

The team is WISE to make sure that Griffin is not the guy before moving on - not stupid. The idea that you and others push that it must be Snyder calling the shots because no reasonable GM or HC would want to continue with Griffin doesn't hold water.

They gave up the farm to get Griffin. You better make damn sure, having done that, that he isn't 'the guy'. It's just common sense.

How do you know he isn't letting that happen? Because some dude on twitter told you he isn't? I haven't heard Snyders name mentioned once when it comes to operations since hiring Scot.

But, gossip sells and keeps the hate alive.

Yep. We finally have guys like Callahan and McLovin. Please, stop the stupidity if this is really the truth.

I'm sure none of us want to see either of those two guys run off due to dysfunction.
 
I'm not ready to take the leap to take that as fact. That wouldn't have been as long of a leap in the past but it's not the past... I hope

There's no evidence that I am aware of....just his opinion.

If this came from some ass hat reporter I wouldn't give it any credibility at all. I don't lump him into that category though.

That's it. Just don't want to see drama run off a good GM or a guy like Callahan.

If this really is happening? Then Dan seriously needs to move to Spain or somewhere and just send checks.

No, it's not something to watch unless you're in to unfounded rumors and reruns of the same ol story. Sorry, McD, but you're just entertaining this because it fits in to what you want to believe. There is zero evidence that it's a legit story or that any of it is happening. I'll stick to the truth that's presented instead of the rumors and gossip made up for clicks and buzz.
 
Why are we even talking about this btw?

Griffin is here for the season. He just had a decent showing in the first pre-season game of the 2015 season. I don't even get the point of the discussion. Or maybe I do :)

I don't find it that unreasonable of a request from the owner.

Former very successful GM has a problem with alcohol twice and wants to get back into the league?

"You have 100% complete control, but I really, really believe that we need to be patient with our star QB. I think with the right system in place and better players around him, he can develop into something special. So, are you ready to be the GM of the Washington Redskins?"

I don't think that scenario is far-fetched. I think most in his position would take that job.

Now if RG3 plays poorly in his first three or four games I would expect him to be benched. If he isn't, that's when eyebrows would be raised.
 
Whether or not you think it's 'reasonable' isn't the point, is it (but that's a very clever way to turn the conversation in an easier direction). The point is, there's zero evidence any such conversation took place. Zero.

You keep ignoring the most obvious point. ANY responsible GM taking over a roster where we gave up 3 number 1 picks to acquire a player, a player who had the best rookie season in NFL history but has struggled mightily since, is going to want to make sure that guy is not the answer before moving on.

It doesn't take an owner's prodding to arrive at that simple, obvious, logical conclusion.
