How Much Time do YOU Give Shanahan?

No we stay the course unless there is serious regression at least until this offseason. if this offseason we dont see another massive youth movement, THEN you send his ass down the road and look for a great young coordinator, no more retreads, no more guys who want a cheque, I want someone who wants to build a leagcy here.
 
I think if (when) Shannahan goes, we need to go after a guy like Kevin Sumlin. Someone young and new who knows what it takes to score at will.
 
It all depends on the results, like any job really. 6-10 year one. Year two is unknown. If we manage to win more games the progress argument can be made. If we end up 5-11 or worse I think 2012 becomes a "hot seat" situation where he needs to win to keep his job. The mistake is simple: he royally messed up at QB. Jason Campbell would at least be even with this mess and it wouldn't have cost of draft picks and constant turnover that impacts the development of other players on offense.

At this point I'm not sure that getting rid of McNabb was a good idea. Would his second year in the scheme be worse than what we've seen from Grossman and Beck? At this rate we might be back to Rex sooner than later.

Kyle is going to be the down fall of his dad. You look and Houston's offense is still running at a high level, so it wasn't Kyle that made it go.

You can say the OL didn't do it's job, we have injuries, they set out to stop the run....but at some point as a OC you need to make adjustments. Philly did this when they went to a 3 step drop against us.

If we are having protection issues why run deep patterns? Use short quick patterns in lieu of running game.

This team has a lot of problems. The Head Coach needs to look at the performance of his coordinators.

I've been thinking this as well. When you play two teams in a row with some of the leagues worst run defenses and just about all you call is pass plays, then something is wrong

I think we have to stay the course here for at least another couple of years, but unless something improves with Kyle's playcalling, I don't want him here after his dad leaves
 
Torrain couldn't run against the Bills :(

Our line has nothing. They were manhandled all day. Then, we were too far behind to run.

So? We can't pass either. Might as well get the backup OLinemen some run blocking practice

Because misery loves company, last night I took a peak at ES. I read one interesting point, which never considered.

Someone posted they felt Shanahan lost this team when he benched Grossman for Beck. With Moss and couple others coming out in support of Grossman, it now makes me wonder if they weren't trying to send a message to Shanahan. Maybe they were trying to say we believe Grossman gives us our best chance to win.

Maybe we need to look at Bingo halls for another advisor.
 
It was a pretty dismal performance all around. The Oline played as bad as I can recall in quite sometime. Thats saying alot because our Oline has been terrible for quite some time. The most troubling observation was the Oline. I didn't see much of an effort. I realize they are missing 2 out of the five starters and both from the left side on an already shaky unit with minimal quality depth. Through the first few games they held thier own as a unit at times looking pretty decent.
Ever since the bye week and the injuries to the oline they are progressively getting worse. They can't run the ball can't hold pass protection and the recievers aren't getting seperation.
I can live with the defense's ups and downs... I believe they are a much better unit overall than last year that just need a couple more pieces.
The deep pass seems to be a wasted play for the most of the season. The recievers aren't open and the balls aren't accurate. Outside of Fred Davis I can't say I'm content with anyone left on the roster in the pass catching department.
 
We all keep discussing the lack of running game. My question is why do we keep running left? The entire left side is back ups. Why not try to run to the right where you still have your starters?

If Shanahan "lost the team" by benching Grossman, the team was already lost. Personally I think there's just too much of a loser culture in DC right now, which can only be cured by shedding dead weight and bringing in more hungry youth.

Also - what is up with Rak? He's been going up against backups/scrubs for 3 weeks now with nothing to show for it. Pathetic.

I certainly understand and can see the merits in the idea of bringing in a young, hungry coordinator in if it turns out that Shanahan is not going to work out. The one worry I have about this is how do we avoid a Josh McDaniels-type situation?

By keeping a GM in place.

Any change in coach is a roll of the dice. Heck, we've tried it with loaded dice (picking previous winners) and still end up on snake eyes on almost every throw.

I doubt we get rid of Allen, unless he was the architect of some of our more questionable player moves. I do hope that he is pushing for more resources to be spent on the scouting dept though, thats the one inexcusable thing IMHO that Danny hasnt upgraded that dept.
