The 2-0 Washington Redskins marched into Dallas to face the division rival Dallas Cowboys. All week, the Redskins faced criticism about how they were just lucky, and not the real deal. When they flew to Dallas, they only had one thing in mind.....take control of the division, and show the world they are for real.

Under the bright lights of Monday Night Football, the Redskins took the field in front of millions of fans worldwide. Their mission was simple. Please the fans, and prove to themselves and the doubters that this team was not to be taken lightly.

For years, they have faced doubt and criticism, always being their harshest critics. But the air in Dallas was different on this night. Gone were the failures of the past, gone were the epic collapses in prime time, gone were the doubts they had carried on their shoulders for over a decade. This was a new team, and they made a change in the atmosphere that had far reaching effects.

With the Cowboys looking to improve, and prove that they were the team of destiny that so many had been predicting for years, LaRon Landry made his return with one goal in mind......take the wind out of the sails of the Dallas Cowboys. He attacked hard, and the ferocity with which he played left many forgetting he had been injured. He was in prime form, and picked up right where he had left off - as the biggest start on the rise among NFL safeties.

For his part, Tony Romo played a hard fought game, although he watched most of it from his back. Without his biggest weapons, he was left to shoulder the burden of these new Redskins almost completely alone. Never before had he felt the pain of a relentless defense hell bent on burying him. His offensive line experienced an epic meltdown, and he paid dearly for it. Hobbled and broken, his will to fight was honorable. It just wasn't enough on this night.

With the Dallas Cowboys battered and bruised, the Redskins walked off the field leaving no doubt that they were not only a force to be reckoned with, but that their defense was at a completely different level not seen in years.

As they walked off the field in Dallas with blood stained hands from their vicious fight, they held their heads up high and smiled as chants of hail to the Redskins echoed out from the Redskins faithful. Another corner turned. Another hurdle cleared. The ship was set back on course tonight, and the long broken road to dominance has begun to be paved once again.

*****For anyone wondering what the hell I'm talking about, this was from a dream I had last night. I never dream about the Redskins. Not more than one other time in my entire life that I know of. This dream was so strange, because instead of living it, it was like I was watching an NFL Films special. it had the narration and everything. I'm not one for putting stock into dreams, but it sounded too good not to share. I had been cautiously optimistic all week, but this amped me up and put a smile on my face. The Arizona game scared a lot of people, but I remember watching the final preseason game with my wife and saying these exact words.......Oh my god, there's something special about this team. I can't put my finger on what it is, but they are gonna do something big. I have been a fan my whole life, and that was the only time in my life I had ever felt that way. When you've been conditioned to expect the worst, then something happens to make a light bulb go off and give you this sensation, it has to mean something.

You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one  My wife was quick to point out that although I have had a lot of seemingly premonitory dreams for the last couple of years, this one could end my streak.

I immediately thought of the origins of the term rule of thumb as I scowled at her :D
