The 53 - and cuts

8 Wr's? There has to be something cooking in the trade world. We cannot be willing to use a WR to go after Tebow like the rumors suggested because our #2 WR came from them in a trade, so why all the WR's?

I was wondering the same thing and returned to post again only to catch your thoughts. strange indeed!

Worthington was a bit of surprise to me as Darrion Scott has been out of the NFL since 2006 and didn't show much in the preseason for a guy that is already 29 years old.

Worthington was a surprise to me too, but I noticed Scott making some nice plays during pre-season.

Agree with Elephant - I saw Scott making some plays, especially in the Baltimore game. He allowed Orakpo to get his sack in that game at least. Scott making the team is no surprise, but Worthington getting cut is a bit of a surprise.

With 8 WRs and Worthington cut, there is a lot of speculation a trade is in the works. Texans only kept 4WR for example.

16! teams this year are only keeping 2 QBs - the 3rd QB rule has really made its mark on the league. Sucks to be a QB these days, I suppose.

Is Worthington PS eligible? Scott obviously is not.

Not sure, but I think he might be. If I'm not mistaken, this is Worthington's second year in the league, but he hasn't played in any games. I believe this makes him PS eligible.

Maybe that's our plan. That said, I know very little about Worthington and what's he's done this offseason.

As for all of the WRs, I'm a huge fan of keeping the younger guys off of the PS for fear of them getting snatched up. If this means trading Stallworth and/or maybe even Gaffney (who hasn't done anything in preseason), then so be it.

I'm really hoping for more OL, DL, and S depth. OL, specifically.

Waiver process ended at 10am this morning. We'll find out at 12pm if the Redskins made a claim for anyone and if they were awarded a player or players.

Meriweather signed a one-year deal with the Bears. Kid was a thug; no place for him in this locker room.

Brandon Merriweather is 27 and healthy. He has had some off the field issues with firearms possession, but is a guy that could help the Redskins right away in the backfield.

Or not...

Bears have agreed to terms with S Brandon Meriweather on a one-year contract.

It's a good thing I'm too distracted by the naked-woman avatar to do anything about that...

Not signing Merriweather was a mistake. One year deal? The Redskins had more cap room for 2011 than the Bears and could have offered him a better deal. With Landry and Moore not at 100% it is possible we would have needed a starting caliber safety for part or all of the 2011 season and then going forward as well.

Merriweather was the one player released on Saturday that to me was a plug and play performer.

He's a thug, plain and simple. Why else would Belicheat release him?

On the surface maybe but I have to wonder what was behind NE letting him go. It is unusual for them to let go of anyone for free who still has something left in the tank and often they get something even for the guys who are done. This one looks fishy to me.

Exactly!

On that note, the Panthers have released 2009 2nd-round pick Everette Brown. Not sure if he's a fit for the 3-4, but the kid has some skills.

Too small to be a DE in the 3-4 and we have enough LBs - and good LBs at that.

Two items of note:

RT @john_keim: DE Doug Worthington, via text, said he has been signed to the

Veteran guard Derrick Dockery has signed a 1 year deal with the Cowboys. They know him well from his 2 stints with Redskins
