Redskins v. Ravens Wishlist

When did I ever talk about HOW the Ravens acquired the players I was highlighting here?

The point of my post was that the REDSKINS over time had failed to draft this level of mid-tier performer so that we were left to sort through the players the Ravens chose not to commit to in re multi-year deals.

I guess I assumed you thought the Ravens had drafted those players, and we were cherry-picking their unwanted draft picks. Didn't mean to put words in your mouth. :)

The funny thing is at wide receiver the camp reports seem to indicate Donte Stallworth has been one of if not our best receiver this summer.

I saw him in action, he was easily the most focused, ran the sharpest routes, and he did not drop anything that came near him the day I was there. I came away from that practice knowing he was going to make the team, very impressed.

Then I got to thinking about how many receivers we drafted and I saw Austin's performance in the past 2 games against 1st and 2nd team opposition.

After watching Niles Paul and Terrance Austin run back kicks and in the game, I think Austin has the edge. Stallworth is a better receiver than both but offers nothing to Special Teams. Banks is only special teams. Hankerson is a lock because of his talent and position he was drafted.

Top 3 slots are locked, Moss, Gaffney, Armstrong.

Do we keep 5 or 6? For the sake of argument, let's say 6.

Hankerson is #4 or #5 regardless. That leaves 2 spots if we keep six for Austin, Paul, Stallworth or Banks.

I still think Banks is either going to IR or cut. Paul will likely be placed on the Practice Squad. I think we end up losing Paul if he goes on the PS. Austin has earned a position on this team.

One of those 4 is going to have to really step it up. Who knows, we'll see tomorrow night. I would like to see at least one of these players breakout against the Ravens and I would like it to be Austin. I think he has the most upside of all of them. Paul would be nice, but Austin has had a amuch better pre-season.

I would like to see our lines play well against the Ravens as well, but I think the focus is on WR since there is such a close competition there.

I am really pulling for Banks, but the more I think about it, the more I think El is right about him going to IR. He went to see Dr. Andrews, which often is the death knell for an athlete's season. I think if either Austin or Paul has a big game against Baltimore, Banks is heading to IR for sure.

Yeah, I said IR or cut, but at this point it would certainly be foolish to cut him instead of stashing him on IR. Is Malcomb gonna get any time on the field tomorrow night? It would be interesting if he went out there and had a 10 rec 120 yard game with 2 TD's both coming from fade patterns in the red zone. I got a good laugh out of that one.

...and then tore his achilles on the way to the lockerroom?

What? Not as funny?
