Sadly, I think they tried in many ways. If major injuries didn’t hit, we may be looking at it differently.

If you mean, after the injuries hit they seem like they are not trying…
Yes I am a but confused on what we are watching unfold.

Maybe it is some big picture trust-the-process style analysis. Like, all changes available don’t move the needle enough to build a contender, and harm long term contention possibilities.
Agreed. And I still like many rooms. It's just those two injuries on the o line really sabotaged us and that injury at corner did, too.

What hurts about center and corner is that those were already two of our weakest positions so weakening it further makes it look really bad.

It will be super disappointing if the season ultimately crumbles because of the breakdown in the trenches considering it seems pretty rudimentary that the first thing you prioritize after drafting a QB is protecting the QB and it has nothing to do with Jayden Daniels being mobile or a smaller frame, although those factors definitely justify doubling down on that priority.

Before the injuries, the handling of center was poor. They took solid depth and cut it in half. Then injuries hit and the remaining half is out for an unknown future. Since Allegretti hasn't even played this preseason, we don't know whether he'll be any good when he's healthy.

If the team can't find an emergency starter from the scrap pile of waived players, it will be unforgivable in my eyes. OT and OG are a shame, but that's losing a star and adjusting for it. Center is a disaster of their own making.

I obviously don't follow other teams close enough to know, but do we always seem to be snakebit when it comes to injuries to begin the season? It always seems to be that we start a season with one hand tied behind our back, could be just me being an Eeyore at the prospects of this season, but these nagging injuries that the team seems to incur from the first few days of training camp that linger into the season. How is our strength and conditioning program? I thought I read it had improved dramatically, maybe it's just bad luck, but after Saturday, I am feeling sad.

AP and DQ are either incredibly brilliant or I will be incredibly disappointed when JD is running for his life because of pressure straight down the center and the RBs are fighting for their lives in the backfield.

AP still trying to figure it out.

homer simpson is sitting in a chair with his arms crossed and says who to pick who to pick

Feels a lot like last summer where Terry was out of camp and a banged up Noah who missed camp along with reports that Wr looked like a problem -- and their response was to shrug it off. Center the new WR?

The only good thing I can see is maybe they are targeting Glasgow? It feels too crazy to me for them to let it ride. Even crazier than WR last summer.

They still could sign a player they didn't put a claim in for -- if i recall there is some advantage, money? I think you absorb their contract or something like that when you make a claim but not so as a FA?

I am reserving judgement to see if there is a solid move like this pending.

There’s not one single player that could
Improve the roster? No one? Without combing the list, I find that incredibly hard believe.
Perhaps not with whatever value semantics they apply.

For example, Linderbaum: I think AP had a strong offer in mind, so let Biadasz walk confidently and I do not believe he thought Allegretti would start- I think he pegged it at for example 30%.

He had other plans. Well, the best laid plans…
In this case the Raiders destroyed anyone’s chances to get Linderbaum. Things started unraveling there.

So now, I think they are on the phone with numbers. Their value for available players. They are not connecting. I think it is that simple. We can evaluate them being bad by deals DONE fairly easily, not so much on deals not done unless the player’s side leaks what they are looking for.

So yes, I think they botched this by not trading a 7th as others did. Can’t say they are botching now. They should not necessarily double down on mistakes. It is sad to watch though. Got a lot of depressing texts from friends and family on my phone about this. 😆

* As others have said, let’s assume for now they are close to signing one of the Cs available. I can’t imagine anything else at this point.

* I was addressing why they didn’t go for anyone prior to waivers and since. I am kind of assuming they are in some sort of heavy negotiation right now. The only alternative to that is thinking they are good enough there, which seems like utter lunacy.

I am looking at this CB group right now and sweating, because the whole setup feels like a disaster waiting to happen.

With Amos getting placed on IR and out for at least four weeks, we’re down to basically three corners on the active roster. And if the contingency is just dragging Fabian Moreau back to fill that fourth spot, that doesn’t exactly inspire a ton of confidence.

I get the scheme logic...how Minnesota’s defense was supposed to be light on corners and lean heavier on safeties...but carrying three CBs with your top guy shelved for at least a month is playing with fire. Throw in the steady stream of camp reports about Sainristil regularly getting beat like a drum, and what’s the actual plan here?

Leaving yourself this razor-thin and banking on fringe guys to hold it together is not indicative of well-laid plans.

At least CB is less of a mess than C, but not by much. This team has got to sign a guy at both spots.

This front 7 and its pressure better be for real (despite two of the best players on it being out for weeks now with injuries), offenses are licking their chops looking at this secondary
