2026 Injury Updates

My gut is many of the injuries are ones that keep players out of commission for a few days or weeks. So may occurring within the first few days really sucks, especially when its players like kind of your only Center, your top tier LT and top corner in a questionable backfield. All that along with all the others being mentioned and sadly Tunsil is cooked

Reports like this happen every training camp, I don't see anything here as unusual.

Although something like "injured his knee" has such a wide range of potential meanings, it's hard to assess!

That sounds like wishful thinking to me brother. Yes - all teams have injuries but we are coming off a season where half our starters were knocked out for the season. That may be an exaggeration - but not by much!

And we are starting off similarly in 2026. I don’t know how anyone can argue we aren’t.

Last season made them a seasonal outlier, but just take a look at what the Chiefs are dealing with:

Josh Simmons (LT) back
Trey Smith (RG) hip
Tyquan Thornton (WR) hamstring injury
Jack Cochrane (LB) knee
Matt Waletzko (OT) knee
Chu Godrick (OL) ankle
Jimmy Holiday (WR) quad
Ashton Gillotte (DE) ankle

Every team is dealing with stuff... acting like we are unique is what happens when you hyper focus on your team. Now... if we are subjected to another season in the top 5 of "most injured" - then I think we have something real to discuss.

Some IR data:
0-1 players.... 11 teams
2 players.... 7 teams [we are here]
3+ players.... 14 teams

⬆️ That doesn't make us an outlier

Just going to hope he scraped it 🙏

I remember hearing last year’s camp and preseason were low intensity, on the theory we were a veteran team that needed rest more than reps, and not wanting to risk injury. Whereas this year has been described as much higher intensity, more young players, more competition.

We still haven’t seen many starters in preseason, so I don’t know if we’re making any adjustments there, but I think practice and game reps are important, personally.

It doesn’t seem like the difference in approach has made any difference in our luck. Old team, young team, low intensity practice, high intensity practice, we have had guys dropping like flies regardless.

We have to also consider the fact that they're going harder than last year's camp! Players have mentioned that there is a lot more competition going on this year, so hence the lengthy injury report.

It's not just you...

Granted the Biadasz injury was a freak result of a someone THROWING another player... Some other freak stuff, but a lot of big hits so far.

You wanna talk freak results, get this…I read that the Chargers have had a prominent starting OL taken out for the year THREE YEARS IN A ROW due to the LG tossing a DL into each of those three guys’ legs.

Two different LG’s across the three incidents, but holy shit

I mean, Jesus Christ! Maybe tone down the intensity. I'm sorry, but we should not be experiencing mass injuries in training camp and preseason. Something is wrong here.

I mean, people were calling Quinn’s camp “Club Quinn” last year and blaming that partially for our injuries and slow start, begging him to crank up the intensity and get the starters more reps in preseason. Can’t win either way if the luck breaks against you

I’m not entirely sure how related those things are.

Allegretti got injured after 6 snaps the first time around. Amos practiced for one day.

Tunsil got hurt on a begin 1:1 rep which I don’t think was even in full pads.

You know who didn't injury problems? Cameron Cheeseman. Bulk him up and put him at center. He won't have to snap so far, and he's got to be bored of orthodontics and the luxury cars he can afford with it.

If only we had a team full of Cheeseman's #Lombardi

Ironically the two guys who missed the most time last year both look great in Daniels and McLaurin.
Wow - you are tempting the fates with this sentence!

The plural of Cheesman is “Cheesemen”
I don’t know why but I find “Cheesemen” hilarious
