2026 Commanders Training Camp

Amik paused when asked about the secondary gelling (reporter’s word). His answer was not convincing. I think there is still much work to be done with this unit. Add the Amos injury to that equation and it’s a definite area of concern. JD has been carving up them up all camp. Yeah it’s JD, but still…the secondary needs to show up more.
The Amos injury is huge and must be taken into account. That said, Amik did pause but sounded positive at least about them.

Sadly, there is no way anyone is or should feel real comfortable with the D backfield

Just keep Jayden upright and he is going to ball out. But I’m not letting myself buy the hype and starting to think playoffs. 😂 Gonna take a little bit for that defense to come together..but we do have a franchise QB…

The first 8 games are just absolutely brutal.

I am really hoping the front seven and pass rush can carry this defense early on. Get after the passer and force errant throws, miscues, bust up timing. Even a healthy secondary on this roster has question marks.

I guess the good news is - the defense almost has to be considerably improved - it certainly couldn't get much worse than it's been during the Quinn era. And (knocking on virtual wood), we aren't likely to have the insane number of injuries to starters we have had in the past. The offensive talent is improved. As you said, if we can keep Jayden on the field, there is some hope. The schedule is a bitch... I think it could get very rough early on, but it's the same opponent list the rest of the NFC East has to play so.... I think 9 wins may win the NFC East this season.

More from Josh Taylor who has been to all the practices. And agree he's just a fan watching. But I'll give him some heed because I agree with some of his draft takes, most of what he thinks overlaps beat guys -- doesn't all make it true, but some of it I find interesting

Sinnott having a good camp

Antonio Williams looks good but primarily still playing with the 2s and 3s

Johnny Newton -- meh, and repeated also about looking meh in the preseason game and wonders if he makes the team

Saintristil not having a good camp but playing better lately

Thinks Chris Paul isn't having a good camp, and based on what he saw yesterday worried about him and Allegretti combo during the year. Wylie to his eyes doesn't look good. O line is his top concern, one injury away from disaster in his mind,

In a seperate video he thought Coleman looks good.

Jonathan Joseph looks like a stud.

Styles looks really good especially in coverage

One injury away from the O line being a disaster, yet Taylor Decker is not in the plans. You could instantly improve the line with his signing at multiple spots. But alas, some team like the Rams will find a way to add good talent, while AP ponders. I think he gets in his own way sometimes. What took him so long to sign Diggs?

Chris Paul has received a lot of meh reviews. I'm sure that's why they let him test the FA waters. It sounded like Coleman was beating him out.

It sure feels like an OL with a healthy Tunsil and Allegretti would have been pretty solid with Coleman at LG.

What a shame Newton can't get it together. It seemed like this scheme would have benefited him.

Yeah, I'm disappointed. I was hoping his quickness would allow him to flash. It's not a good sign especially if he's not standing out against the interior of our line which is supposed to be our weakness.

Regarding the OL depth, to add to my prior post, if Wylie isn't looking good at G then that really blows. We all know he isn't very reliable on the outside but thought he could still hold his own at least to some degree on the inside. Then again, if he is playing next to Gublin or Bad -Jones with Paul on the G, yuck. Just yuck!

Thank goodness for Cosmi!

Update on Newton from Quinn's presser.

Newton is in New York today. Pec injury. No info on severity.

Idk, I’ve been disappointed in Newton to begin with obviously but I was even more worried about him in this scheme which seems to emphasize the DL freeing up the LB’s. I thought maybe he’d get some run at DE in certain obvious pass situation looks and be able to at least rush, but he’s a guy who has to keep moving forward and penetrate to be felt at all, if he ever is. If he tries to hold space or set the LOS it seems he gets eaten up due to small size and low power.

What a disappointment.

Oof. He has no trade value and they won’t want to cut a 2nd rounder on his rookie contract, so they’d probably look for any reason to put him on IR

Right now, I'd say you and I think SIP were correct about him. I was in the overoptimistic bucket. Not giving up on him, but if he has an injury not sure if he'll have a chance to really step up.
