I forgot all about him. My first response when I saw "Henry" was KJ Henry from a few years back. I was wondering why we were converting a DE to RB lol
 


Full text:

Commanders just wrapped their joint practice with the Dolphins. Irresponsible amount of observations coming.

🏈 Miami is not going to be good. That's important to state before I comment any further about how lopsided in WSH's favor today's practice was. And it did feel lopsided at times.

🏈 Marco Rubio was there. So were Nats POBO Paul Toboni and manager Blake Butera.

🏈 Daniels looks great in the new offense. He looks smooth under center and he was awesome in play-action boot game today.

🏈 Diggs is a beast. He's a terrific route runner and he's going to help the Commanders a ton. He's just fun to watch run routes. Legit special in one-on-one drills (which are WR friendly), but that carried over to the team period.

🏈The first play of practice in the team period was a false start on WSH (Conerly I think). He had a rough rep in 1-on-1 vs Chop Robinson (designed to help the DL). He also got into it with a defender in the only 'skirmish' I saw all day. I like that feistiness from him.

🏈 The Commanders couldn't run the ball between the tackles much. In general, the one area I saw that looked like it needed lots of work was their interior OL play in run game.

🏈 One of my favorite plays was on a 2nd-and-6 from the 44. Daniels found Burks on an over route behind the linebackers on a play action shot. Beautifully layered throw. Looked like a throw you've seen in the Ben Johnson / Kevin O'Connell offenses for years.

🏈 Both kickers were strong today. They both went 6-for-6 and made kicks from 60 yards, their longest attempt of camp. Today's kicks were from 33, 38, 43, 48, 52, and 60.

🏈 Bill had a quiet day in terms of yards because there weren't holes but he ran hard. He also had a violent collision late in practice where he lowered his shoulders and helmet on the sideline instead of going out of bounds and delivered a blow. Many of his teammates came running down the sideline to celebrate with him. Terry McLaurin was very fired up.

🏈I only saw Daniels get sacked one time. I think there was another play that could have been a sack when he flushed the pocket to his right to extend a play. Pass pro was pretty solid but there was also a lot of booting him out of the pocket.

🏈Amik Robertson had a loud pass breakup on the outside and proceeded to talk trash to the entire Dolphins sideline. He was pointing at and shouting at several guys as he continued to play from the middle of the field. Funny moment. He's a super competitive, outspoken guy. I like watching him.

🏈Lawrence Cager has had a good camp. I think WSH has five tight ends that could all play in the league somewhere. Best position group they have IMO.

🏈 Daniels was surgical in a 2-minute drill at the end of practice. Looked like they set the clock at 30 seconds or so and had to move the rock. He went 4/5 with two completions to Diggs underneath. Threw a dime to Chig to move sticks for 8 yards as Okonkwo ran out of bounds.

Jayden Daniels ain’t the worry. He’s still that dude and a franchise QB. We just gotta keep him and the oline healthy. Oh and a dynamic top 10-15 back will be nice eventually. He’s never had one.
 
So there we go, the big question has been answered through joint practice. Jayden Daniels is throwing guys open, so our DB's aren't as bad as feared, the WRs aren't as good as hoped, it's just that Jayden is superhuman.

I heard Conerly won some and lost some vs Chop Robinson (a higher draft pick than him who has serious physical potential). We really need Conerly to develop. But at least it's against a high tier talent, so maybe it's not indicative of anything yet (... although maybe it is).

I dont know if i agree with the WR thing... Guys were open and Jayden was hitting targets (Not sayin Jayden didnt perform)..

Saw highlights from up and down the depth chart, with the pinnacle being a 70+ yard TD to Burks who apparently wowed with his speed.
 
I just hope we were doing vanilla stuff.

Wasn't there some stuff you didn't expect? Seems like thew WR group performed well, I definitely wasn't expecting that. Comments made about the TE room being one of the deepest in the league....WTF?

Even if we were expecting the defensive front 7 to perform well due to the investment, I can't say I figured it would happen (because FML being a fan of this team and the bad karma).

Receivers I have expected. 1) Miami is really bad. 2) Diggs changed that entire room.

Tight ends… ehhhhh… we’ll see. I think the room is deep in some regards but shallow in others. Not sure there’s a ton of weapons or blockers but there’s a lot of tweeters who are okay at both. Bates is a great blocker and meh receiver. Chig is a good receiver and a meh blocker.
 
I think it’s very possible the TE room is deep with guys who deserve to be on NFL rosters. I’m skeptical it’s deep with guys you want to rely on to make plays during the regular season. Kind of like how WR was before Diggs, it feels we are very deep with 3rd-4th string talent that should cling to an NFL roster and get the chance to develop, but if Chig goes down you’re worried unless Sinnott really blossoms or Yankoff really surprises. Bates is what he is and that’s valuable as long as he continues to block at that level. I know Cager is flashing, but I’m going to have to see it a lot more to care. Firkser still around? Another vet who is an NFL player but limited. Deep but bottom-heavy TE room imo.
