Do we need big numbers from Diggs ?

Do we need big numbers from Diggs to be successful ?
What do you think his numbers will be and how productive can he be ?
He can play in multiple positions as a receiver
How many TDs ?
 
We need Jayden Daniels to be productive, clutch, and healthy. Whatever role Diggs plays in that, looking back, will have been worth it if Jayden can carry us again (and hopefully if he has to carry us less)

I’m not really a big projections guy, but I could see Diggs with a big year and I do think he’ll lead the team in receptions if generally healthy. TD’s I have no idea, for most players it’s not a sticky stat and if Blough is all he’s cracked up to be then there will be a lot of TD’s going around in potential non-sexy, non-fantasy relevant way as the ball gets spread around.

Diggs to me raises the floor and ceiling of the entire offense, QB specifically, and thus defense and overall team. What that will look like on the stat sheet, not sure
 
Diggs positive influences will be apparent on and off the field whether he has big numbers or not

This might have been a better question to be added to one of a few existing threads. Love the enthusiasm!
 
Not necessarily, if it's because other players are stepping up and sharing the workload, e.g. Williams and McCaffrey, Chigs and Sinnott. This would be an ideal scenario, but not a given.

My gut tells me Terry will be productive this year, but I do suspect Diggs will be a high volume guy.
 
This is kindof what I expect.

Terry: 1000
Diggs: 700
Chig: 700
White: 500
Everybody else: 700
Total: 3600


I don't expect 2 1000 yard receivers from Terry and Diggs. Last year only 1 team had 2 1000 yard receivers, the Eagles, and they both had almost exactly 1000 yards. (And AJ Brown was one of them and he's gone.)
 
What I'm looking for is a ripple effect. I expect Diggs to take away attention from Terry which should give Terry better opportunities. I'm expecting Terry to take attention away from Diggs which should give Diggs better opportunities. I'm expecting Diggs and Terry to take attention away from Chig which should give more opportunities. I'm expecting all of the above to give Bill/White more opportunities. Further, I'm expecting the success of all of the receiving options above to create lighter boxes to give our runners more opportunities.

That's what I'm looking for. That's what I'm hoping for.

And we haven't even talked about how the ripple may provide opportunities for McCaffrey, Burks, Dyami, etc.
 
It's going to depend on how much he plays, he barely played 50% last year, and whether Terry continues to get shut down by guys like Philly's CB 1. We are facing the Rams, Seahawks, Texans, Colts, etc, a lot of teams that have great CBs.

Diggs put up 600 of his 1000 yards in 5 games last year. If McLaurin gets smothered then the ball has to go somewhere else.

Or maybe Diggs ends up being the guy they put the No1 on.

I hope to draft one of these in the near future, but for now I’ll take signing one in the twilight of his career.

Off field issues and belief he needed to be away from bad influences in the area. Everyone knew he was too talented to be drafted there, it was just concern if he would have that follow him or if he would be invested in football. Turns out it was the latter.

If he had his head on right, which he did, then his rookie breakout did not surprise anybody.

I'm not going to talk bad about Joe but I've been with him in some social settings and...he ain't Riggo that's for fucking sure

You wouldn’t be the first to dislike Joe Theismann. I never met the guy but always liked him as a commentator. He knows the game, has cool stories, and is a total homer.

More importantly, he is still our all-time passing yardage leader, third only to Sonny and Slingin’ Sammy in touchdowns, the quarterback of our first Super Bowl team, a league MVP winner, Ring of Honor, etc. So some respect is due, and Diggs was wise to pay it. I would be surprised if Theismann minds, and it doesn’t much matter to me either, but really Haskins is the only one since Joe to wear #7, so it would be significant even if it isn’t officially retired.

I still think #17 and #18 would be cool regardless.

Respect is due to his performance on the field, no doubt. But? "You dont know Joe"
 
Joe has one of my favorite lines of a commentator of all time, and it had nothing to do with the Redskins.

Back in the day, when he was on the Sunday Night crew, they would do a hit from Prime Time to Joe to get his thoughts on the upcoming game. It was normally Chris "Boomer" Berman who would do it, and they would have some banter.

One day, a VERY young Stuart Scott did it. He was being tried out on Prime Time and did the highlights of games which didn't matter. He hadn't gotten the prime SC chair yet. I don't know why he did the toss for the conversation with Joe, maybe they were just trying something new, dunno.

I wish I could find the clip, but I've searched for years and I can't find it. They had Stu on one side, split screen with Joe, and Stu tossed it to him in full Stu mode, with catch phrases and slang, and you could see on Joe's face he had absolutely no idea what Stu was asking. And after Stu was done, Joe, with a big smile, says, "Stu, I have no idea what you just asked." And both men laughed. And then Joe just said something about the game. To me, who had to be teens at the time, it was like the changing of the guard.

I'll never forget it.

Haskins wearing #7 was blasphemous, but Diggs has done enough in his career and is respectful enough of JT that I won't mind it
