Well he did have the league MVP runner up throwing him the ball vs a backup fo Deebo most of the year.

He should get more though. Deebo has never been a #1 WR.

I think we’ll all feel a lot better in 10 days or so. At this point I’ll be very surprised if Diggs isn’t here, and in my mind it’s so incredibly obviously the correct move to make that I’d view it as an indictment on AP.

The only real excuse I can see for AP is if he is trying to work a trade for a legit younger WR.

Sure if he pulls in BTJ or something like that, even better.

I thought about a long form post about this and just never felt like sorting it all out, but if you look back at the last couple years, there’s not much we could have done in the draft or free agency differently that would have actually fixed the WR room for the foreseeable future WITHOUT making trades. And yes we should have done that 100%, but I have a little grace for how we ended up in this spot where WR1 is 31 and we’re begging for a guy turning 33 during the season to come save us.

No such excuses with next year’s draft. It’s deep.

I’m glad we have Conley, don’t get me wrong, but the major spot that I’ve honed in on where we could’ve made a different choice, completely in control of our own fate, was to let Coleman play RT and draft Luther Burden (who I’m an enormous fan of and expect big things from)

Edit: and I acknowledge and respect that Conley was this FO going pure BPA and supporting Daniels in a different way, and I fully get it and it can work. BUT if you’re asking me where we could’ve made a specific different move at WR not dependent on other teams’ actions, that’s where I pinpoint the diverging timelines

Yup, I loved Higgins and was very high on Henderson and Luther. Felt like we we needed an offensive weapon with that pick

I think a 1yr $10-12M deal seems about right. We are one injury away from having a really bad WR corp. Maybe that is what Diggs is waiting for… to strengthen his leverage with AP. Plus, I’m sure he doesn’t mind missing a few weeks of camp at his age.

That’s fair, I like Burden too (now). I don’t bother watching lineman prospects and figuring out my wants there, which doesn’t matter at all except to say I had no clue whether Conerly was a good pick or not. I also couldn’t figure out what to think of Burden as a prospect, so their level of excitement over snagging a RT was enough to keep me calm. Plus I liked the idea of Deebo, which I still think could have worked in an alternate universe. Then the Terry shit hit the fan and there were no answers. The one that really bothers me is Pickens, and I certainly did not expect him to do THAT well last season, but we should have been all over that one regardless of Deebo. Especially when he ended up in the division.

Anyway, sign Diggs. Hope Williams hits. Spend a 2027 1st. Keep a close eye on the trade market. No excuses.

He could be had for a ham samwhich, he was free to be had -- which fits Peters mode. Keim I recall threw his name randomly on a podcast when talking about adding corners many weeks ago.
