2026 Commanders Training Camp

If you're going to spin out over every dumb/ignorant comment you read online, you might as well just throw your electronic devices in the trash because you're in for a rough time.
And when you step in dog shit you dont bring it in the house with you and show the family you leave it outside.

So what are the odds Quinn plays vets more in preseason games....
Hopefully a 100% chance he does. I said in a post on Tuesday, can’t afford a slow start with the brutal first 8 or so games of the season. Jayden only had 1 drive last preseason and i don’t think any of the plays were passing plays.

Also, who all will be at training camp on Saturday? I’ll be out there. Hoping to meet people

Now i have someone telling me mclaurin isn’t a WR1🤦🏻‍♂️ the stupidity never stops.

note: I have no power or say-so here, I’m just an asshole

If you want to submit yourself to the psychic damage of reading what idiots have to say all day, that’s up to you. Don’t bring it here to force the same punishment on us. People here have decided to be selective about whose opinions they care about, by nature of being in a message board ecosystem rather than swimming openly amongst the expansive idiocy of social media.

Read another way: the entire point of a smaller community like this one is to keep the socially maladjusted riff-raff out. It’s not private, anyone can join. But they have to seek out community, not just splash their opinions across the timeline for all to see. Stop dragging your trash in here and dumping it on the carpet

Rest any of the vets who have at least 3 years in Bloughs offense or 2 years in Jones' D. Everyone else needs to learn.:giggle:
Yeah, things were too slow last year. They say everything has been way more upbeat so far. That's what I hoped and pretty much expected speed and intensity wise.

The problem for me is if they didn't notice this was a problem LAST Year, and corrected it immediately, what are they missing on this time?

I'm trying to find reports about how Terry, Antonio, etc are looking and I can't see anything mentioning them today.

Just see stuff about lack of separation and then find out they're talking about second string here, third string there, then back to second string.

It's like yes, the usual suspects are still the culprit. But what about the new guys? Cause we already knew the usual suspects were lacking.

In JP Finley's after camp podcasts, he's mentioned Williams positively both days. Says he's trying to temper his excitement.

JP Finlay is blogging from camp. He thought they looked good on day 1.

Other reports suggest the offense struggled today. Terry McLaurin said something to that effect in an interview.

I think McLaurin at his peak is a #1 WR but I also think time is not on his side as far as his peak prime ability and I would like to see the organization start looking into replacing the WR1 spot sooner than later because a lot of times when the ceiling on a player lowers due to age/wear & tear you don't see it coming until it is too late to address in-season. Too many other holes in this roster to really point to WR1 so I understand why up to now they have been fine letting Terry carry that torch but in another season or so.....?

Yeah, his replacement should definitely be coming through the next draft, more than likely. I doubt we’ll be bad enough to draft Jeremiah smith, but it’s a good WR draft class isn’t it? Or is that only true for QBs?

I remember the "Is Terry a true No.. 1 receiver" chat both here and on ES. Ironically, last time it really flared up was when Aiyuk was getting into a contract dispute with SF and a bunch of people wanted to trade McLaurin plus assets for Aiyuk. But I think the core of the argument is some people seem to think there are only four or five actual number one receivers in the league. When they say number one, they mean super elite, something a few levels above all pro.

Terry's been in that very good range. He's not Jefferson or Chase, but a tier below. It would have been interesting to see discussions of Terry if his best QB prior to Daniels wasn't Hienike. Really, he's only had one year with elite QB play and one might argue only one year with good QB play and his numbers in 2024 were his best. In some ways, that's part of the reason why I do expect Chig's production to be better than it has been in the past because Terry's was and OZ's was, etc. I don't disagree with SIP that we should depend on our QB turning water into wine or cabernet into champagne, but we should anticipate that Daniels will elevate whoever he plays with.

Still, there's only so much you can elevate canned tuna. Terry was already a good player without good quarterback play. He was routinely talked about as one of the underappreciated receivers in the league prior to Daniels even with bad quarterbacking so it just makes sense to shop for higher quality ingredients. If Daniels can raise the letter grade of the talent he has why not get him the best stuff and go Micheline Star?

I think we all agree that Jayden is talented enough to elevate the WRs he is working with. I've never gotten the argument that some make (Peters seemed to make it earlier this week) that our WR room is 'good enough' because the QB is uber talented.

I think the questions about McLaurin early on were mostly based on measureables. He doesn't have elite speed. He's not physically dominating. He's a smaller WR. And he doesn't have the draft pedigree to suggest he's a top WR. All that being said, I think his consistent outstanding play, especially on a team where there wasn't a lot of that to celebrate, earned him that WR1 label. Canadian Hog brought up an outstanding point on our podcast episode this week. Not having McLaurin out there to start the 2025 season and all of the distraction that created was probably the biggest factor (beyond major injuries all over the roster) in crushing the team vibe and was a factor in how badly things went almost out of the gate. He's a huge part of this team in every way you can measure.

All things being equal, I 'd look at extending Terry if he would accept a team friendly deal.

The issue at WR won't be solved through 1 draft and as we have seen FA WR can cost a ton.
