Eagles: I think the Eagles take a step back. They lost people on their defense, Barkley is a year older, Hurts is ok, and I think they're going to realize they relied on AJ Brown more than they thought they did, because every team had to pay attention to him, even if he was a cranky bastard.
NY Giants: I don't buy the NY Giants hype. Will they be better? Probably. But I still have questions about Dart, and his ability not to be decapitated by week 4, Scateboo is maybe the best of the good RBs (thank you GMSM for that phrase referencing Kirk), the defensive line is impressive, but the defense hasn't been good recently. And who knows what they're going to get from Nabers, especially early in the season. He had to have a second surgery after his ACL/Patella repair, and Harbaugh has said "it's not a normal injury." There's a chance he starts the year on PUP. They had to go out and sign a whole bunch of old WRs because they don't know what they have with Nabers:
- Darnell Mooney: Signed on a multi-year/one-year deal worth up to $10 million to add deep-threat speed.
- Odell Beckham Jr.: Returned to New York on a veteran minimum contract.
- JuJu Smith-Schuster: Added on a veteran minimum deal for interior depth.
- Calvin Austin III: Signed via free agency to bolster speed and slot/return options.
- Braxton Berrios: Brought in on a veteran minimum contract.
Dallas: I think they're the front runner. The best QB in the division is either Dak or Daniels. If Daniels plays like 2024, it's Daniels, he has the higher ceiling. However, Dak was in the MVP race a few years ago also. They have a really good offense, defense should be better. Jerry has absolutely lost his marbles and his fast ball, but they still have good talent.
I think, assuming a healthy Daniels, Dallas, Philly and us are all really close. I'd put Dallas as the favorite, and then us and the Eagles as a tie for 2nd but very, very close. I don't see any reason why any of the three teams couldn't win the division if things broke right for them. Giants still at 4th. The only thing which would surprise me is if the Giants finished in 1st or 2nd in the division. If Dak or Daniels gets hurt, which both have in recent years, those teams plumet towards the cellar. The Eagles could probably withstand Hurts getting hurt.
If Daniels is the best QB in the division, it immediately means we're a contender for the division, basically absent everything else. The only "best QB in the division" who's team finished below .500 while he played full seasons is Drew Brees in the mid 2010's, when they went 7-9 three years in a row while he was throwing up 5,000 yard 35+TD seasons. Man, those defenses were B-A-D.
