I couldn't agree more with the Diggs comment. Why TF have they NOT signed him yet. Even if they do eventually get Ayuk (and he's actually not crazy), how does it hurt to have Diggs? He's a legit #2 (and one could argue every bit as good as Terry). Go sign the man. (Edit, I read on an earlier comment that he's back in court again - similar charges. If that is legit, then I agree that he's a non-starter).

Another legal issue just popped, and it looks like the most recent one (mostly surrounding his brother) has just gotten settled out of court.

It's very possible that they're waiting (or already know if there is) more coming down the line. The McManus deal screwed us out of having a solid kicker for a couple years...

I haven’t followed this too closely, so I could misunderstand, but I think the settlement was a related but separate case involving Diggs’ brother, and Diggs’ accuser just turned over a lot of social media documents in a case that is still active.

Regardless, this is only the latest in a history of incidents where Diggs was accused of sexual misconduct and violence.

Yeah, but Diggs paid the bill to get the accuser to drop the suit. Hard to imagine he would do that if he wasn't involved on some level, even if it's just through association.

in that TMZ article, it touches that there still is a suit pending, which very well could explain why we're not pursuing him... set aside not wanting the drama, if there's an open suit against him, it's a gamble to bring him in without knowing the outcome of that process...

And here's the thing: I don't think WR2 was that big a deal last year, and it definitely wasn't in 2024.

Until everybody got hurt and the person playing WR2 was actually WR9. When Chosen and whoever else was brought up to from the PS because Terry and Noah Brown were hurt, and then Deebo got hurt, then went from slot to WR1 (which he shouldn't have had to do), and then McCaffery, then Lane got hurt, etc. etc. etc...

If that position suffered league average injuries it's probably nowhere near the problem it appeared to be. Now, Peters should have known Noah Brown was not going to stay healthy for the season because the reason the Texans released Noah Brown was because he couldn't stay healthy. And he had a season ending internal injury. And then he got hurt in mini-camp. I actually put the Noah Brown re-signing as the worst individual personnel move Peters has made. Even the Lattimore trade, which was a debacle, at least you could say he was going all in and getting a player who might help them win a SB. It failed, but it was a swing. The Noah Brown thing was as predictable as the sun rising in the east. And I said that the minute they re-signed him.

What they've done this year is massively raise the floor. DBrown, Burke, Lane, Van Jefferson, Williams and McCaffery as a group have a higher floor than the team had last year, so if they do suffer tons of injuries, one would hope they wouldn't have to turn to PS players.

If we have to bring up players from the PS again to play meaningful snaps, it really doesn't matter who the original players were.

I'm not saying the WR last year were the second coming of Clark, Monk and Sanders or anything. But I do think there is some revisionist history going on in terms of what actually happened. The original plan was Terry, Noah Brown and Deebo as the 3 starting WRs, McCaffery and Lane as the depth. McCaffery didn't develop and Lane was a rookie. And all of a sudden, Noah was gone after week 2, Terry was gone after week 3, Deebo got hurt and missed a game and played hobbled in several others, McCaffery broke his collar bone, and Lane even finished the season on IR after an ankle injury in December. When all 4 of your 5 day 1 WRs either spend significant time on IR or end the season on IR, and the other one missed a game and also was limited, there's literally nothing you can do about that from a depth perspective.

Peters tried to add a top WR2 this off-season. One chose to stay in Indy and play with Daniel Jones (good luck with that) and the other chose to go to New England and play with Maye (that's a more reasonable argument.) You can't force players to come here. Could they have gone after another? Sure. Instead they turned their attention to TE and signed Chig, and then bolstered depth with signing Van Jefferson and DBrown. It seems in their mind, Chig was going to be a better receiving target at TE than anybody they could bring in after the first 2 WRs were off the board.

Is it still a problem? Maybe. It's certainly not a roster strength. How much of a problem it will be depends. It first depends on health, and then it depends on how the offense operates. If the WR2 is only a target 2-3 times a game, and they are mostly responsible for being tough in the run game and occupying space, and the targets go to Terry, White out of the backfield, Chig an slot WR, then it's not that big a deal, assuming the offense is running smoothly. If Terry gets hurt, it's a huge problem, but it would have been a huge problem even if they landed Pierce or Doubs.

Is Peters gong to be right about all this? Time will definitely tell. I have no idea.

I also think it's very very likely they sign another veteran WR.
I believe a solid WR2 is imperative. We need to have receivers that can gain separation quickly and be where they are supposed to be with their routes so Jayden can rely/trust them not to forget hanging onto the ball. Neither Burks, Luke Lane or even Dyami have proven that ability to do those things in the pros, and then there is starting healthy.

We are expecting much more of the run game now which means less balls to be thrown if all goes well. That means the WR2 is going to be relied on more along with Chig, and perhaps Sinnott along with White and the rest of the RB's. If they had brought in a "healthy in all ways Aiyuk and Diggs" we are probably talking about there being little chance Dyami, Jefferson and Burks minimally make the team.

We all sure do hope Chig really lights it up and perhaps he will. I think White will as well. Cheers to those hopes!

Let's talk kickers! Or some other position besides wide receiver! Talk about superfluous!

What is that word that I hate so much? 🤣🤣🤣

Listening to Logan on his latest podcast, nothing ground breaking but he seems to think of the 2024 draft class he's more confident about Luke breaking out versus the others. Reading between the lines about Sinnott -- and Grant pressed him on this he feels like he's more likely to be a solid player than a go to TE type.

I feel stronger than I have in years that a number of our players on both sides of the ball could easily make next years top 100.

We've taken heat for questioning whether Peters has completed this roster in 3 years. Personally, I don't think taking four years to build a contender is a disaster, but I don't think it's especially impressive either.

The irony is that compared to the national consensus, we're practically homers. It doesn't matter whether you're talking about scouts, coaches, analytics people, draft analysts, or power rankings—almost all of them view Washington's roster as one of the weaker ones in the league.

I think they're wrong. I know you do too. But for those here who think we're unfairly critical because we aren't completely sold on every move Peters has made -- relative to the mainstream opinion, we're actually very optimistic. If anything, we're borderline homers—a mile from being haters.

That makes sense. Even those of us that really liked Sinnott coming out didn't expect him to be a stud and he surely hasn't shown a lot to date. He should get more action this year to prove something.

From the DB's I can see a player like Mikey, Amos and Cross making a name for themselves
Our front 7 has crazy potential with a few of them really standing out.

The linebackers and defensive line don't necessarily have a proven superstar, but the depth and upside on those units are impressive. There aren't any Van Jefferson-type players at edge who are only making the roster because there aren't better options. Those groups have legitimate competition and a lot of young talent.

My guess is that after the wide receiver situation blows up in their face for a third straight year, they'll attack that position the same way they've built up the front seven in 2027—with real depth, competition, and multiple legitimate options.

I get that Jayden's mobility can compensate for a lot, and it probably will again. But at some point, I think Peters is going to realize he can't keep asking his franchise quarterback to be the solution to the receiver problem. Eventually, he'll go all-in at WR and finally put a supporting cast around Jayden that reduces the burden instead of relying on him to overcome it.

Oh yeah, the edge/DE/LB group is really freaking solid. I'm expecting a lot from them with a couple of them really standing out at the end of the year....who knows for sure which one(s) . The obvious of course is Oweh but dang, so may others with high potential

Removing WR and C they really did a great job building a roster with younger faster and more talented players

The tough thing is, if Sinnott breaks out then we have a problem. We made a sizable investment in Chig. If Sinnott breaks out, chance are, that means Chig did not.

It's not a problem if Sinnott breaks out. A player who is genuinely good will make the most of his touches, both in practice and in games. If Chig and Sinnott are both good, the team has to find a way to feature them both. If it doesn't, the rookie OC will be badly dropping the ball.

That’s the opposite of a problem. His contract was not large at all for a FA TE, random blocking TE’s nobody has ever heard of make $7-9M per in FA, it’s a premium position that frequently sees role players get overpaid. 3/27 was actually really reasonable for him and shows the rest of the league doesn’t secretly think he’s a top-10 TE in waiting.

If Sinnott breaks out (and if it’s at Chig’s expense, which doesn’t have to be the case), it won’t be a problem but at this point a borderline miracle.

JCM may get the first snap of the season, making him the “starter”, he may not. But I’m not sure he leads the team in snaps if everyone stays healthy. I think it’s gonna be a messy RBBC, with White being less explosive but the most reliable and well-rounded. He’ll rack up a lot of touches and high-leverage snaps.

Seems like Keim is hinting not to be surprised if that happens. Having said that, RB is arguably the hardest spot to judge in camp.

But yeah they've sort of called out Croskey-Merritt as someone they want to see improve to help in the passing game. Running routes-pass protecting. You add that, he's already 25, and his fumble issues last year -- i am not as convinced as some that he's poised to become one of the league's higher echelon running backs.

I still think he's a good back for a 7th rounder. But he feels sort of just as advertised -- a decent rotational back -- not a dude on the verge of stardom.
