The Starter
I tend to think Riggins doesn’t know anything. Riggo’s Rag always seemed like John just riffing on his thoughts.

With this schedule I even more want Diggs, not some dude who misses camp and might need a month to get up to speed

100% this. With a new offensive and defensive scheme, and two new coordinators, I could already see us starting slow. It could be a rough beginning of the season.
Did Dallas improve their defense?
They had an even worse defense than we did last season.
We'll have to see to what degree soft camps had to do with having an over the hill roster. I hope it was a significant aspect and this one will be much more rigorous. The team was just not ready or focused.Between Quinn's penchant for soft camps, not taking preseason games seriously and his comment which came off dismissive about "Septemeber football" where it seemed like he was saying his version of the preseason-working out the kinks is to do it in the first month of the season -- I hope that schedule scares him straight on this.

The Diggs situation will be interesting. The Spotrac guy that comes on with Sheehan said Diggs would be somewhere between $12-15 mil with heavy incentives. He also said every contract he's signed, he always hits those incentives unless he gets injured but coming off injury years, he's generally really productive.

🤫🤫🤫 no way, that would be against the rules. If we don’t sign him it’s fairly obvious something else is going on - cash restriction, promises to Aiyuk… something.
You'd think DQ would already have a fire lite under his ass this year. The daunting start to the season should fan that fireWonder if this schedulle adds some urgency including to FA. Quinn to use a metaphor likes to ease his way out of bed, hits the snooze button a few times, late riser and finds his stride later in the day. That clearly won't work here. And I don't see how an Aiyuk signing September 1st will be in time for him to ramp up for the start of the season.

Could Dan Quinn land on the hot seat early in the year?
After going 5-12 in Quinn's second season, it's uncertain what it will take for him and his staff to see a fourth year. They did go 12-5 in Year 1 and they still have Daniels at quarterback. But the Commanders made numerous changes to their staff and roster. Quinn never lost the locker room last season even while going 2-10 in the final 12 games. But an 0-3 start would likely ignite questions about his future in Washington. Only one team of 25 have made the postseason since the NFL expanded its postseason to 14 teams in 2020.
I don’t know. Unless something goes incredibly horribly I just don’t see DQ getting let go during the season. I think he’s about as safe as someone with a magma seat could be through the course of the season.
