The Jayden Daniels Tracker

A lot of people are up and arms because the flag guys killed the pros 40-10. People were shocked and said that it wasn't a good look while others said pickle ball or ping pong is not tennis. It's 2 different sports and the pros aren't going as hard while the flag guys wanted to kill them.

One pro said that the field seems like it's only about a third of the width of a football field and only about 60 yards so it's totally different. They also said that we had some old guys, retired guys, or guys like Luke Kuechly who are not really built for flag football. You want small, quick, and shifty guys. Others said that it's excuses and again, not a good look
Now put team usa up against the seahawks in a regulation game of tackle football and see what happens!

I don't get why it's "a bad look" for hobbyists to lose to professionals. Is Tom Brady going to have left out of the HoF because he didn't win a flag football tournament? Can the Commies mail Jayden back because they were promised that he would look good in every form of American football, even the type that some of the fans despise because the players have to leave their bubblewrap suits to play in it?

Actually, I take it back. The reason why Washington has struggled to land strong talent at WR is because the WRs knew Jayden wouldn't win the flag football tournament. I know that would sway me.

That's a pretty great hype video. Also, Jayden's feet are looking pretty quick in that simulated drop back from center.
The only thing I'm worried about which I know that it shouldn't, is his left arm. Sometimes it looked like he was favoring it and it was just hanging when he tried to come back last year but some said that he kept it like that even before the injury. I'm just paranoid because I know that one slight difference can completely affect your accuracy so that's what I was checking for.

I remember RG3 being super accurate, throwing bullets, and hitting guys right in stride on every throw. Then after the injury his mechanics were crap, to the point where guys had to jump, dive, wait for it, or it was thrown behind them on every pass. Accuracy totally fell off a cliff but that was different because it was the lower body. This is upper body and the non throwing arm so he should be fine.

I wish we would just forgo the pre-season hype videos. Let them do it on the field and create the hype reels off of actual NFL plays.

That’s not from the team’s social media or anything. It’s a fan YouTube account that just likes to make edits. Hype videos are like a whole subcategory of content creation these days, but it’s just fans most of the time

No replies here mention Jayden Daniels, interestingly enough (except jokingly, in terms of depriving the entire division of their QB’s in this hypothetical)

Mostly Styles, Tunsil, some Luvu.

I’m sure some of it is Cowboys bias towards Dak even as he gets older and hasn’t made a deep playoff run. But clearly a young franchise QB would change their roster.

That’s how far Daniels has fallen in terms of his valuation by rivals, after the injury-plagued down year. There’s a lot of bouncing back to do. After his rookie year everyone one of these responses would have been “Jayden Daniels, let’s go win a SB”. Things change fast in this league

I wouldn't say that. Dak is statistically one of the best QBs in the league every year. That's the last of their worries from a practical standpoint. He's even in the MVP race a lot. He was still pretty special last year. Their defense sucks. He was 5th in QBR, threw for almost 4,600 yards, 30TDs to 10int on 67 percent is great

You’re not wrong but he’s going to be 33 this year and hasn’t won a thing. Just thought it was interesting, really. I think people are actually underestimating Daniels now and many are erroneously writing him off as another RG3

This is probably not going to go over well, so apologies in advance for saying so, but honestly it makes sense opposing fans think that. Jayden is perceived as another RG3 until proven otherwise, and sadly that perception is somewhat warranted.

The main thing is the injuries. He only played seven games last year and got hurt in three of them. We clearly agree with the idea he is injury-prone too, because we only take him out of the bubble wrap on special occasions.

Then there is the weird behavior. His mom is his agent. He seems to have undue influence on the roster (e.g., Aiyuk, White, Hilton, Hartman) and coaching staff (e.g., Blough). So there is reason to believe he is a bit of a diva, for lack of a better word.

I notice even his biggest fans have begun to lose faith on some level. If you pay careful attention to what they say, you can see how they are already scapegoating Adam Peters and others in advance of the poor performance they expect.

Hopefully I am eating these words when he bounces back this year, but I do get it.

For sure. And I’m one of those critical of Peters in regards to supporting Daniels (and previously critical of Kliff since 2024), but I do put large aspects of last year’s struggle on Daniels as well. The decision-making at times, pressing and missing guys who are actually open, holding the ball and taking hits, going out of bounds backwards and losing yardage instead of throwing it away last minute. Naturally thin body that may be more prone to injury, not his “fault” but a reality to contend with in his decision-making, etc.

So yeah, agreed with you in terms of perception outside the building and from other fans. Main reason I posted it was to show an outsider perspective to demonstrate how far the hype on him has fallen. We take it for granted that if healthy he should bounce back and continue to grow (QB development is not linear, etc.)…but not everyone feels that way. He’s a little forgotten which is shocking.

Blough being a new name is part of it as well. If Mike McDaniel came here, Jayden would probably be getting the same “McDaniel could break the league” chatter that LAC/Herbert is getting right now. So it’s perception, this year will tell a lot about Daniels’ growth and future.

I should also say, I do think Jayden and the offense will be fine if healthy. That’s a big if though and the main reason for skepticism, always has been even before he was drafted. It’s just a thing with running quarterbacks, more so if they are slim. I complain about the bubble wrap, but maybe that’s actually a crucial difference between JD5 and RG3, he’s being managed better.

Jayden has proven the talent and temperament in his Heisman and rookie years, no doubt. RG3 could claim that too of course, but he never played at that level again. So if Jayden can return to that 2024 form, that would go a long way towards silencing those unbelievers and naysayers. I wouldn’t bet against him either, but he does still have more to prove.

Oh puh-leeeze let’s not turn Dallas fans hating on Jayden into anything more than that. His league wide perception is just fine. Of course the injury concerns are there as with any running QB, but everybody knows he’s a star if he can stay healthy. Comparing him to RG3? No, not even close, that’s just something for our ptsd fan base.

I actually think it’s the opposite. Of course some fans are damaged and immediately go to the RG3 comp, but I think it’s more common from other teams’ fans who aren’t as well-versed in what happened last season, and our fans are more likely to still have a huge amount of hope and high expectations for Daniels for the most part. Having more context and all. There’s no doubt his profile is more under the radar than you’d expect with other teams’ fans, and with national media, aside from fantasy football types who make content looking for undervalued producers.

There’s just so much uncertainty with the coaching staff, I think is the biggest reason. And no big splashes on offense this offseason. We aren’t getting the bounce-back benefit of the doubt the way an injured Joe Burrow with an awful defense gets every other year, for instance, because we put more effort into improving the D than the O so people don’t know what to expect from Blough/Daniels

What a really sad soap box for some to jump up on here to prove everything sucks. Dallas fans on X wouldn't take Daniels? Dear God, the horror...they're usually so balanced and rational...
