YES! Agreed! Completely! He overachieved his draft position by a significant margin. Dude can run the ball fairly well when he finds the hole. There is nothing wrong with Bill. At all.

But he shouldn't be carrying the load, and won't be here.
 
Seems like Dallas has a lot of picks, two in round one and three in round 4. Here they are with #112 & #114.

He did have the one 70 yard run. And the 9 catches.
 
I just don't know in this draft if you are going to find the kind of back that goes for 1,000 yards and 7-8 touchdowns and catches passes.

That sounds like a late #1 or early Day 2 back in a solid draft for the position.

We don't have that here.

If we're using yards per carry, forget rookies. Look at our own roster.

Your favorite old man McNichols was 5.0 ypc.

Yards per reception he was behind CRod and McNichols.

Anyways, don't have the energy for this. Bill is a serviceable RUNNER but not a great running back and for his draft position exceeded expectations and we should allow him time to develop rather than hyping him up like he's ready to set the League on fire.

Agree here. He does have the home run dynamic when he can find the open space. I don't think he has the patience or vision YET, but he has that home run ability.

He can't pass protect or catch (as of last season). So he needs to develop. He overexceeded expectations and is a solid player for what he is. I have nothing against him.

I just don't want him to be our feature. And he isn't.

Do we really expect to find a 'great' all around running back and feature offensive performer in Round 5 or 6?

If Peters pulls that off he will be executive of the year given the current draft list.

I didn't really focus on backs before Day 3 but most of these guys look like rotation players.
 
Go find the day 3 draft thread from 2025, no one posted more than me about wanting Croskey-Merritt especially as the day progressed.

He's a decent player. But one dimensional. In today's NFL (not pre 2010) you want a RB who can do it all.

Some thought Jay was nuts for lettiing go of Adrian Peterson back in the day -- and he explained it, its not that he didn't think he can run the bell well. But he wanted a back who didn't telegraph to the opposition that the next play is run.

I think there are a few backs who can exceed his statistics if provided the same opportunity.

Emmett Johnson tops among them.

Do I think that is necessarily worth a draft choice? Not sure. I'd be fine with letting Bill develop some more and see where he is. I'd also be fine taking Emmett and seeing if he can push Ford or McNichols off the roster.

If he's the best player (or any back, really) then ya, let's upgrade our RB 3/4 and see what's there.

I wouldn't make it priority by any means.

I like him on the roster, I wanted him before we picked him, I am very familiar with the player -- his college and NFL version but he's not a complete back. If this was old school 1980s Redskins, he'd be perfect but not as a #1 in today's passing league.
 
Chiefs went to the Super Bowl with Pacheco and the 49ers had Tevin Coleman and Matt Breida.

I would like a three down back myself but I don't see one available.
 
Ravens do it every year. Just sit there and take the best players available. It is disgusting.

It helps that they've done it so consistently that they can go BPA. This team can say all the want that they play the BPA game but from what I can see need creeps into their picks plenty.
