Most likely Cleveland would have made the Fano pick at six if they couldn’t trade back. Styles was falling to us, and I think we still would’ve taken him even if Delane was there. Saints probably would’ve taken Tyson either way as well. I don’t think KC needed to make that trade.

I think it’s a really good trade by KC, they secured their guy, that’s all that matters to them.

Still salivating at the thought of Chenal and Styles together in the middle of the field. The sideline to sideline coverage is going to be insane.

There was a good chance we would take Delane as the top CB—a position of need—and a local kid, maybe not, but KC made the right call to move in front of us if they wanted to be sure.

Well, they traded McDuffie and lost Watson in free agency so KC was motivated to make the pick. Here was a case of need and best available at position coming together.

It is questionable whether Tate is the best receiver available in the draft, although he is a safe choice that looks to be very productive.

Lemon, Tyson, Boston or other may be better down the road.

yeah, it's fun to go back and look at what people said including yourself.

In 2024 I really wanted the Commanders to give up the 2025 #1 pick and move back into Round 1 and take Jared Verse.

As it turned out that would have been a great move for an EDGE that is outstanding.

At the same time based on the measurables in 2020 and where we were drafting I was almost sure that Chase Young was going to be a dominant player in the NFL.

So, we can be big time right or wrong based on the year and player.

In fairness, everybody was wrong about Chase. But I’ve seen enough busts in addition to that one to remain skeptical about these things.

I am a bit amused the Cardinals took Love. They don't have a quarterback and their line is suspect.

I can see him suffering through an Jeanty type first season in the NFL where he shows flashes but doesn't get much help.

Yeah he is a great player but ended up in the worst possible situation.

The ironic thing about Roseman is more often than not he is looking to draft for need, for specific positions.

And he gets it done.

In 2024, he remade his secondary - cut his corners and went into the draft with the sole thought of upgrading the secondary first and that's exactly what he did.

He drafted Quinyon Mitchell in Round 1 and then swung the deal with Washington to take Cooper DeJean in Round 2.

Problem solved.

And no one accused him of 'reaching'.

Just like this year where he had a need at receiver with the expected trade of AJ Brown and worked his way into position to take Makai Lemon at a value spot in the first round.

He makes it look easy.

Meanwhile other teams bemoan the fact they can't find a running back or a defensive end and they go into successive drafts and fail to get the players they need.

That's like Mendoza complaining that the Dolphins didn't make a play to acquire him in the draft.

So in his first public appearance as a Chief Delane appears to be a bit of a hot dog.

There is talk about Delane and Nabers running their mouths too much. They’re both cocky sure, but honestly a lot of WR and CB are just like that. Something about that position playing alone on the outside in these 1-on-1 dogfights attracts that personality I think.

Okay, there’s no reason for him to say this if we weren’t in communication with him before the Chiefs trade-up (similar to Steelers and Lemon), and I know Peters was thrilled with Styles regardless.

But this does make it seem like Delane was our initial target. Point for Keim, I think. Although who knows, they probably didn’t expect Styles AND Delane to both be there and that almost happened. So Styles could’ve been ranked higher by his and Delane is just referring to pre-draft conversations with Peters

My guess is, local kid Delane wanted to come to D.C. and was disappointed we didn't (somehow... how?!) beat the KC trade offer and go to 6 for him.
