The more I think about it, I could see us drafting Hilton late day 3 for Jayden since they played together. I’d imagine Jayden would be the one to green light that if it does happen.

If I am the GM I put no focus on drafting or trading for players because they played with the QB in college.
Brady, Manning, Mahomes - none of these guys ended up playing big seasons with guys they went to college with.
I think people are overestimating what Daniels may think is 'cool to happen' and what a team needs to do to ensure Daniels is happy and ultimately that means winning games in the league.
If we make moves based on who likes the player that is a road likely to lead to being a less successful team.
Howie Roseman doesn't think about these issues when making picks. Period.

I’m not saying I think we should do that nor do I want my GM thinking like that either, just thinking of dots to connect. I think Hilton is trash personally 😂 but would love to be proven wrong. He has everything you look for in a WR but he just can’t catch the dang ball which..well is the most important aspect of being a WR.
I just have to laugh at how everyone has forgotten Burks completely. I just read through the last 5-6 pages of this thread and I see every WR on the roster mentioned except Burks.
Four years ago he was a 1st Round pick, 18th overall.
He is 6'2" and 225.
Did he light the world on fire with TN? No, he did not.
Was the TN QB room a dumpster fire the whole time he was there? Yes, yes it was.
I'm not saying the young man is the definitive answer to our #2 WR position. Honestly, the older I get and the more I watch the game, the less I think I know about player evaluation, so my opinion is absolutely suspect (at best). Having said that, Burks has all the physical tools to be at least a legit #2. This coaching staff appeared to really like him last year.
It wouldn't be the first time in NFL history that a talented prospect went to the wrong place to start his career only to find himself at a second stop with the right coaching and teammates.
Anyway, I guess what I'm saying is that most fans seem to have already written him off and I'm not sure why.

Lots of meetings with him, and seems like a deep threat, but the combo of an extensive injury history and (according to you, I haven’t watched him) and not being good at catching… yikes.

He showed little for us and flamed out in TN… I can understand the skepticism.
However, he signed late with us (late October?), so I am curious to see what a full offseason does. Also fair to say he could have been hindered by the injuries to players around him - Jayden, Terry, and even Ertz/McCaffrey/Ekeler.

I like Burks, and love that we brought him back, but I am relying on him only slightly more than Brandon Aiyuk. That said, we don't need him to have 90/1100/6. If we got half that, it would be huge.
I get it. Truly.
I'd argue he had little opportunity. He had 22 targets in 8 games with 10 catches but ZERO drops, so most of the balls thrown at him were uncatchable.
He got part of a game with Daniels and that was in MN when the entire offense shit the bed.
He arrived here in October coming off a broken collar bone.
His rookie year in TN he was 33/444/1 in 11 games with the firm of Tannehill, Doubs, and Willis throwing him the ball.

Burks is going to have to stay healthy to contribute. The Commies got burned by relying on a usually unhealthy WR to stay healthy for more than 1 season. Burks playing well for a whole season would be a surprise, not an insurance plan.

Yeah, there’s upside there for sure. Until he proves himself though, it’s hard to bank on him, particularly as our starting Z (or as a quality backup x). You’re right that he shouldn’t be written off though.
More broadly, I absolutely understand the angst towards receiver - we have no proven Z or slot receiver. And as it stands now, so much rests on Terry.
The bright side is that we do have some potential in Burks, McCaffrey, Lane, and even (to a lesser extent) Dyami. We’ll likely add another via the draft. Asking any of them to be quality starters might be a bit much, but come combo among them emerging as meaningful contributors (ala the 2024 unit) might not be a stretch.

Burks is a case of adding talent with upside at reasonable cost. Ditto with Drake Jackson, who was a #2 pick in 2022, and showed well before he got hurt and missed time.

Okay, there’s no reason for him to say this if we weren’t in communication with him before the Chiefs trade-up (similar to Steelers and Lemon), and I know Peters was thrilled with Styles regardless.
But this does make it seem like Delane was our initial target. Point for Keim, I think. Although who knows, they probably didn’t expect Styles AND Delane to both be there and that almost happened. So Styles could’ve been ranked higher by his and Delane is just referring to pre-draft conversations with Peters

As for being excited for a 71 WR, only ones for me are Bernard (don't think he falls), Antonio Williams (might fall), Saratt (looks like he will be there for sure)
Among the ones I gather they like from Keim's podcast, I dig Stribling, I think he's an instant improvement on Lane-McCaffrety.
Maybe, but he’ll still play a lot across those three positions imo. And Luvu may not be back after this year, depending.

It's not hard to be an upgrade on McCaffrey and Lane at WR. On the field neither player has done a damn thing at receiver.
Both are good special teams guys but you have to have receivers that can actually catch the football and make plays on OFFENSE too.

Could have been earlier in the process that day. I doubt they'd have gone Delane over Stytes. Not just because of Keim but it was the one thing he had the overlapped most other national insiders too.
It seems like they wouldn't have taken Tate. Both Keim and Grant Paulsen said if not Delane it would have been Downs (if Styles and Love were gone). Also Sheehan made a good point that Peters sort of spilled the beans on it in his presser when he goes he thought Tate'ss celing was 4 and floor 9. If the floor was 9 that's him saying it wouldn't have been 7.
If so Schrager among others looked to b dead wrong, specifically on him, he was really hopped up about this team being hopped up about Tate.
