The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

I would be very disappointed if Downs is there at 7 and they select Delane. I hate that this is such a poor QB draft. Without 2 or 3 QBs expected to go in the top 10, a ton of non-QB talent is going to go early. Sucks for us.
I’d prefer delane.

But beauty might be in the eye of the beholder.

Sydney Sweeney or Alexandria Dadario? Some would choose Syd, others Alex, neither is a bad choice.

i think there’s a high chance they’re selecting a player for the next regime anyways.

Talent wise Delane is better. But man, I don’t see how they could pass on Tate if Love is gone (he will be)

It's like walking in the desert for miles, sweating like a pig and being beyond dehydrated and saying no to a bottle of gatorade.

While I do trust rumors-gossip the most this week -- in part because its when teams tend to finalize their boards for real so what was true in the past might not be true now, as Schefter references with some of his own coverage of what was true weeks ago is no longer true now with some teams.

But also its the week of misdirection and supposedly there are some teams picking behind Washington hot for Tate -- so it could be a head fake for a trade down or for a team to trade up ahead of them and take him instead of someone they covet more.

But personally I hope its true and big time so.

I still think Styles/Love to Tennessee, the other to NYG.

Don't know but reading twitter and listening to insiders its getting a bit crazy.

So Schefter now thinks the Gaints go edge. Styles maybe to the Titans. Love going to the Cards, but some saying now, nope.

The crazy part of the crazy season seems to be hitting overdrive.

It’s all non sense.

I think it’s Mendoza, Reese, trade up to 3: Bailey, Styles, Love, Mauigoa.

Wild card is the Browns trading out.

I actually don’t want Love and Styles to be there at 7 because if we take Styles over Love and Tate I’m going to throw something. And I haven’t thrown something in 25+ years.

Yeah anyone over Love I’d be upset.

its weird while this is the week i trust rumors more but only with reporters I trust. Its also the week of the most misinformation. So its a wild ride as to what to trust or not.

It's been said here before, but if we go Delane at #7 then a trade up from #71 for a WR is most likely necessary.

Is the reverse true? If we take Tate at #7, do we have to trade up from #71 for a CB? Recent posts here would imply yes.

I would love to have someone do a study on what position typically gets more valuable long term production from the third round of the NFL draft - WR or defensive secondary? It sure seems like those are going to be the positions we target with our first two picks. As for the order, that’s the part we all have to patiently wait for…

If that happens...at number fucking 7 overall. I'm done with thinking this front office is competent.

I doubt it but I don’t put anything passed this FO. Which brings me to point two…I can't be done thinking this FO is competent when I haven’t thought that for over a year.

The WR position is deep and in the 3rd round Sarratt, Lance, Hurst and Stribling should be available at #71.

My feeling from the start is that Harbaugh wanted his Ed Reed, Kyle Hamilton in Downs. That's who they want at 5 unless they now think that he will be there at 10. Most likely, Downs and Tyson or a lineman at 10. I do think that Bailey might change plans for teams if he drops including us

I agree with you completely. And yet I don’t see any other way to guarantee we can fill our WR need at 71. So…what the hell are they going to do besides reach on a flawed deep threat or raw risk/reward dude we shouldn’t put any hope in? Seems like a pretty terrible situation we’ve gotten ourselves into and I don’t know how they can stick to any sort of good process and think they’re getting out of it with their jobs. They draft true BPA and the next staff may certainly be thanking them. They reach on a WR to guarantee they get one, they may also just go down swinging. Rough situation, rough couple years to try being our franchise QB.

Oh I know you do. The eye roll was meant for it coming to pass, not the suggestion of it occurring.

I'd take him and stash him if he fell to 71. Swing for the fences

Of all the twitter docs, good, bad and in between, this is the RFK Jr. of them. What I'm putting in the toilet at this very moment is more useful than what this asshat has to say.
