If love goes 3 and styles 4 any chance Reece or Bailey fall to us?

I would take the CB before I would take Wr. There are a couple of Wr that are playable on FA market. I dont see any other CB that are unless you think T Diggs has something left

I've seen it play out that way in some mocks. If an olineman is picked or if Love and Styles go super early then there's a lot of chaos that could drop a top edge to us.

Here one I just saw what if the gmen take the CB at 5? They need a CB? I am starting to think Reece could fall. Without him having a ton of edge work in college I could see teams passing on him. Some teams my just see him as a top LB

I think we get a shot at one of these eight
2. Bailey
3. Reece
4. Tate
5 Downs
6. Love
7. Delane
8. Styles
They all sound like impact players

From Tony Pauline today:
Titans Can’t Go Wrong At 4
The belief from those close to the Titans organization I’ve spoken with is that the Titans can’t go wrong at pick No. 4. This is due to a combination of the team having so many needs and the players expected to be available to them fitting those needs.

I mentioned from the Senior Bowl that edge rusher David Bailey fits the Titans defense like a duck on water, and I’m told he is the game-changer new head coach Robert Saleh covets. Yet it’s unlikely the Texas Tech product falls into the Titans’ laps.
The team likes both Sonny Styles and Jermiyah Love, yet it believes the Ohio State linebacker is the safer pick for their scheme.

Would the Titans take Rueben Bain Jr.? I’m told they would not take him with the fourth pick; rather, they would consider Bain if they trade down and he were available to them.

I’ve been thinking silently that Reese could fall too. Not likely, but I’m sure the FO has done their homework under all possible scenarios. All it takes is one offensive lineman to go early and things get real interesting.

I certainly take the Delane talk from Kiem seriously but I don't understand it from a scheme fit view. If it's truly a Flores system, then a do it all safety is key. That points to Downs. I will admit though. that I'm more hyped for Downs based on speculation alone.

Well, people don’t really want to talk about this because he’s looking like a great player, but I don’t think Downs is necessarily a “do it all safety”. He can’t play single high really, he’s not a rangy ball hawk. That’s why imo. He’s a super-box safety. Not do-it-all

I always thought that everyone sending Love to NY or Tenn was so overrated based on their roster and coaches but was always shocked about how no one talked about Arizona when they don't have anyone there at all. I could definitely see the Cards taking Love

With mediocre athleticism, too. Sorry but I’m not trying to draft an on field coach to play the least meaningful position on defense at 7.

I’m not big on Downs as a top pick for us, either, despite the fact that I believe he’s a good player.

I really think pick 7 is between Delane and Tate. I could be wrong, but it just seems like things are aligning this way.

I have a feeling someone is going to swap with AZ and take the second edge (I think it’ll be Bailey). Tennessee and NYG are going to go Love/Styles.

The wild card is the Browns, who may wind up taking away any kind of choice we have but snagging Tate or trading to someone who wants Delane. But they could also just go OL because I think KC is going Bain or OL.

Dallas and the Saints are immediate threats to move ahead of us. And there could be some sleeper teams, too.

Miami’s roster might be the only one that looks from top to bottom far worse than ours on offense. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them try to move up but the problem is I don’t think they’ll be able to justify that with who would be available - so I kind of count them out. But they need corners real bad, too.

What has been (I'm going to get in trouble for using this word) speculated is they are higher on Delane than Tate.

If that's the case, they should stick and pick Delane at 7 rather than trade down and potentially (almost certainly) lose their preferred prospect.

And then go sign every FA WR still available.
You’ve been vocal about not trading down, and I get it, particularly in a vacuum. If we presume the reports that they have Delane over Tate are accurate, my question becomes - does this include weighting (what I think should be) the number one priority for our franchise - supporting Daniels.

Of course there’s so much potential nuance to the debate (Delane vs Tate). Some of which I address below, but also - how different are their grades on these 2? Are they in the same tier or different tiers? Who do they feel is more scheme agnostic considering this staff might be gone next year? I posted earlier about how many guys are either on 1 year deals or are FAs next year, so there’s also factoring in adding picks to (hopefully) alleviate those potential departures. And so much more.

Point being, I don’t see this debate as being as black and white as “which player do we have rated higher?”. Now, if they’ve got Delane rated higher after factoring in all of those nuances, especially if he’s a tier above Tate, then yeah, absolutely take Delane.

Agree with the point about corner vs receiver in FA. I’ve made the same point. On the other hand though, I think there’s a chance that a corner at 71 could present solid competition (and depth) for us. And then of course there’s the idea that 1) the previous scheme didn’t do Sainristil any favors, and 2) corner might be slightly less important in Jones’ scheme.

Then you add in these factors:
We have Amos, Sainristil and Robertson in the fold next year, whereas at receiver, it might just be McCaffrey and Lane (depending on what happens with Terry).
There are likely receivers at 71 could also provide solid competition (and depth), but our problem is lacking starters (Z and slot), not depth. FA could be the (supplemental) answer, but we’re likely in the same boat next year.
Gotta support our franchise qb, and for a guy that seems to rely heavily on trust in his receivers, changing out receivers every year probably isn’t ideal.

I would hope that if we go D with #7 (Styles/Downs/Delane) that we are blowing up JJs phone. Choosing to spend #7 on defense should IMO necessitate an overpay at WR. It should be calculated into the cost

There is a question of if he can't or if he's never been asked to. I think the report is that Cross really isn't good at it and is pretty much a strong safety. Others feel like Downs has ellie instincts, reading, and has been solid in underneath coverage so if give the opportunity to play more deep, are you 100 percent sure that he would be a total liability?

Pretty much. I hope we’re in talks with agents for a number of these FA receivers… which also could change the calculus - like if Allen doesn’t wanna come to the east coast, if Jennings has a lot of suitors, etc. We can’t (to your point) wind up in the same position as last year.

I do think Aiyuk could be exactly what we need, but man, talk about a massive roll of the dice if other options fall through (draft and FA). They need to view him as a pure bonus addition (if we sign him), not an answer.

I agree with this completely. I actually do like Downs as a box safety. But I dont see him as a fit for us. We need a rangy FS in the back of the defense. Theineman is probably a better fit for our needs. And I think he is going to go higher than people think in this draft. The talent is pretty lacking. So you may as well take shots at measurables this year. Part of the reason I like Faulk so much. Frustrating draft to grade this year for me.

I dunno. Arizona is in a different spot than us, in that they don't have a QB. They have Brissett and Minshew.

They're not going to be competitive this year with that level of QB play. They might take Ty Simpson somehow or another.

If they could get Simpson and Love, would that be good? Maybe? However, if I were them, I'd probably go with a more premium position first.

I think because we are set (or at least think we're set) at QB, don't have a huge hole on the OL (I don't count center as a huge hole or one that you would fill with #7 anyway), you could see how RB makes a ton of sense for us at 7.

For them at 3? I dunno. Maybe. But they risk wasting his first couple years getting a QB situated.

You could probably move up with AZ on the cheap this year if they got pick 7 back. They look like the really want oline help. 7 would be best spot to pick one.

Unfortunately, we do not have the picks to do that. There should be something available at the 7 spot for us.

Caught up with McShay's podcast, it was well covered here by others.

The one thing I'd add is they think all the Tyson buzz that came out of nowhere is BS, and likely driven by his agent who they implied is very good and aggressive.

No one's asking me, but it'd be dumb for them to take Love. They aren't going to be good, but Love will be good enough to keep them winning at least 5 games.... so they'll be perpetually below average.

They definitely need a QB but like the Jets, you can't pick Ty at 2 or 3. Just wait until next season for that if you can't move up from the 2nd round to get Ty. I think they really want to trade their pick but if they can't, I do think that Love is very much in play
