The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

Perhaps the offense will be led by a playcaller that will put all of the current pieces plus future additions together around our QB and make sure everyone’s pulling in the same direction?

That would be cool! Looking forward to finding out. Our season (and their jobs) pretty much depend on it, it’s no small thing and I can’t just assume it’ll happen. Tough league even for experienced guys with more traditional paths up the ranks

Maybe but I just feel like there is no way they are blind and crazy. They know what happened last year. They know they let Jayden down. That's why they went for Pierce and Doubs. They aren't going to just so oh well, we tried. There is no way that happens imo.

They are waiting for the draft. If no WR then we will sign some solid vets or get Jennings on a one year, or even a trade. I also feel like they already know what is going on with Aiyuk. SF won't do AP bad.

It's not going to August. We may not end up with the best of the best but there is no way they are leaving Jayden and the team hanging again. It literally goes against everything they've said and what we all know. Fans are crazy if they think that this will be our guys to start the session

Maybe. Lotta hope for best case scenarios playing out wrapped up in this post, that’s all I’m saying. I remember where that got us last season. Peters was just as smart and attentive then as he is now, and it still happened. If it happens a second time, I’m believing them when they show me their competence level.

My favorite scenario is that Browns forget they have only 8 minutes on the clock and forget to turn in their card (which would be a very Browns thing to do) and we pick at 6 except nobody sees it because ESPN cuts to commercial.

What would be really nice is if they forgot to turn in their card, we could essentially take their place and trade the rest of their picks to us for Emanuel Forbes. They probably wouldn't notice he's no longer on the team
My favorite scenario is that Dallas trades its two first round draft picks to Cleveland and then to show Brandon Aubrey they mean business draft a place kicker at 6. Jerry Jones should do this. How dare a kicker make him look bad! Show 'em Jerry!!!

please make this happen, I love all the out of nowhere buzz about the Giants and Tyson. But also the out of nowhere stuff as the draft approaches, can be wildly wrong.

Edit

If Keim to your ears is selling Tate at 7, why not ride with your gut?
I never said Keim was selling Tate.

Did you actually read what I posted? I pretty clearly said that Kiem was sort of going both ways..

I don’t think Kiem was selling anybody at seven.

He was going both ways as to the idea of taking a WR out of need or throwing need out the window and going BPA. And did so not in the context of what the team is thinking, but in the context of what he thinks about going value versus need at that spot. He waffled on that concept.

He didn't waffle IMO on what he thinks the team will do.

But lets play it you way which would be I don't see the team taking Tate at 7 -- and then in your mind he contradicted himself specifically on that (which he didn't IMO) hey I do think they would take him at 7. If Keim said I don't think so and then goes i do think they take them -- that's pretty strong isn't it? If so, why not go with his last point then where in your mind he corrected himself.

Fans are crazy that we might go into the season with a similar receiving group that we had all of last season…?

Just FYI, SF is making a point. They don’t care about Peters or doing right by him. If their intent is to hold him as long as he can, they’re going to. They do not care.

Yes, they are likely going to bring in some older vets and maybe even a rookie. That I agree with. But is that enough? We’ll see.

Seeing the problem and addressing are two different things and it’s not crazy to see the same situation this year and be uneasy.

But we’ll see. I’m with you that they’ll do something. My concern is that it’s not enough because of their lack of doing anything last year.

Washington needs to do what Roseman and Philly are doing - going into the draft with the expectation that AJ Brown will be traded and not be on the team in 2026 and act accordingly.

We need to stop anticipating Aiyuk and move on to the present and what is possible to do in the draft that WE CAN CONTROL.

Anyone skipping wide receiver at #7 and #71 and moving forward with Terry and a group of unprovens is nothing but negligence.

I still can't believe that a player that has missed almost 2 years of NFL contact on the field and had ONE 1,200 plus yard season in his 6 year career is of such vital interest to this team and it's fanbase.

This is not Justin Jefferson or J'Mar Chase, at this point he is a lottery ticket.

I seriously don’t care if he’s right or wrong, and I don’t even think he made a prediction.

The only person who seems obsessed with him being right is you.

I’m just saying, I didn’t read “Tate is off the table at 7” from his podcast.

There was a mass “Keim said no Tate” this morning. And everybody sortof piled on they thought. I’m just saying, I didn’t hear it that way. I heard it more balanced.

If you did, that’s fine. I am not trying to convince you or anybody else otherwise. I also said that in my origin post. You can read it however you like to.

Read or listen to it and consume the information however you like.

US and SF probably have the best 2 team relationship in the league. We've done a ton of business together and we've given them some great deals. I just find it hard to believe that they will risk ending that. hey never know what they may need in the future.

Unless they truly feel like we had anything to do with the situation in terms of tampering when they were still on good terms, they shouldn't blame us. They are crazy if they risk forfeiting the relationship

I think at a minimum you are equally obsessed. I recall having a similar debate with you where I had to go through the trouble of transcribing a podcast between Bram and Keim on ES.

So you can say its "only" me. But you are all over any discussion like this.

It's all cool. I don't take any of it personally. ;)

I am just trying to share information that I find relevant. You can believe what you want. I'll believe what I want. It's all good.

As we get closer

My top 5 in order
1. Love
2. Styles
3. Tate
4. Downs
5. Delane

Who I think their top 5 in order
1. Love
2. Styles
3. Delane
4. Downs -- Tate tie, not sure the tie breaker

If they trade down and I hope they don't, my favs
1. Boston
2. Lemon
3. Tyson
4. Cooper

Who do I think they'd target in a trade down (assuming Downs, Tate aren't there)
1. Bain
2. Lemon
3. Tyson

But I am waiting to Tuesday to go hard guess as for what they do, that's why I haven't done the prediction thread yet.

If we were to draft Jordyn Tyson… and he gets hurt… Peters is so fired.
Yep. He's the one WR that I don't want to see us draft due to his multiple injuries. AP has to nail this draft whoever he selects.

Something about Tyson worries me. Besides the injuries. I saw Harmon compare the way he gets open short in college to Jerry Jeudy (meaning people mistake wasted-movement jukes that look good to the average person for excellent route-running, when it won’t work like that in the pros) and I couldn’t shake that. I do feel like I see some of it
