(New Poll) The Washington Commanders Brand 2.0: Beer Drinkers and Hail Raisers

How do you feel about the Commanders Brand 2.0?

  • Vastly improved, if this is THE brand moving forward I’m satisfied.

  • I like the direction, but I still feel more to do. I will/have specified in thread.

  • I don’t like this new direction. I didn’t like the old either. They can’t make this work for me.

As much as I supported changing the name, this is getting ridiculous. As you said, a spear is a universal weapon (like AK-47s), and there's nothing on the spear to connect it with any specific culture. Sometimes I feel these 'rights groups' don't want to solve the problems they were created to address, since that means they would no longer be relevant and have to find other work.

Enough already!

It's all about money and power.

I predicted this on the Extremeskins board that this would happen. That these "grievance groups" would keep moving the goalposts in their so called 'dissatisfaction'.

Ms. Harjo doesn't speak for all NA Indian people.

Not even close.

But will it help them win more games? Looking better while losing is still, losing.
We weren't going to sniff a SB under the WOS. He also foisted the most incongruous (both with the storied history of the franchise and internally among the "new brand" uniforms) he possible could. It looks even worse in hindsight than the vomit inducing. stomach drop so many of us had when try to find something positive in the the abominations they gave it.

Now we have already been within a game of a SB appearance and we no longer look like Tanya's fashion school project circa 1989.

Winning is the ultimate goal, but uniforms are important to many if not most. They are important to traditions. They are important to memories. Wednesday was important to helping washing away a bitter, bitter, taste in many fan's mouths.

My awesome new black hat should be here in time to wear with a Redskins jersey while my son wears his gear and we eat wings and watch the draft together. Rituals like this outside of wins and losses are important. It mean things to people.

What is utterly baffling to me is that it was radio silence for the most part after Cleveland and Washington changed their brands. Numerous other National teams across the spectrum still have Native American themes, logos, and traditions. It’s very possible she’s just trying to stir up the larger controversy again by drawing attention to our spear. They did lose momentum after the Redskins and Indians were removed. The initial backlash was fierce and intense.

I just refuse to believe that anybody rational is going to take her serious at this point. At this point, it’s almost like arrogance.

“No Suzan, not EVERYTHING has to do with you and your people”

So because we haven't wont a Super Bowl in 35 years we shouldn't have an opinion about unforms?

How you got that out of my statement is pretty awesome but to spell it out, opine to your lil heart’s content. Am I allowed to have a “meh” opinion though?

Sure, but a snarky comment about how uniforms dont help you win will likely end up with a snarky response... especially when the topic has 107 pages dedicated to it.

I don’t like black uniforms for this team but I suppose that is inevitable going forward.

The spear should be on the burgundy helmet as well.

Native Americas don’t own the image of a spear.

Some folks just want to monitor and control others’ behavior. These censor types are worse than the Inquisition.

The Egyptians, Romans, Greeks and Chinese used spears.

Any organization with a military name it makes sense to consider a martial symbol as logo.

They should roll out a video at some point that shows the spear being used in the context of the Washington Commanders with literally every human group since hunter-gatherers that have used a spear…and omit Native Americans. To defend the spear and illustrate just how ridiculous the premise is that any one group owns a “spear” symbol. If the name was still Redskins, she certainly has a point. The name is Commanders now which is about as far from a Native American name that you could possibly get. I’ve got to admit this has me fired up because I’m sick of this shit honestly.

It wasn’t meant as snarky at all. The title of the thread is: what do you like about the Commander’s brand 2.0.

I’d like to see the brand be winning. Crazy I know.

If the thread is only to be about uniforms, here ya go:

Anything is better than the all-white diaper dandies.

But if they won in those diaper dandies, I’d be just as “meh” about those uniforms as well.

I wonder if the Neanderthals knew in advance that they were culturally appropriating Native American culture? 🤔

A sizable chunk of my DNA is Celtic/Germanic in origin. I guess I’m being racist to myself and don’t even realize it.

It's just kind of tantamount to coming in to a thread and saying "I don't care about this thread."

The on field performance is specifically not "branding", and every other thread is dedicated to that.
