The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

I’d be cool, maybe even pumped with a trade down if the delta is being made up by 2027 picks.

The Jets example has been going around, so if the Jets gave say 16, 44, and their 27 1st? We might need to add something to 7 but I’d be all over that. If it’s 16, 33, and 44? It’s good value, extra value actually, but I’m probably not swayed unless Love and Tate are both gone. Delane seems to be the backup plan if those guys are gone in which case, yeah I might take it.

Anyway, that’s just one example and who knows how realistic it is, but I do think whether 2027 picks are involved is a big factor in whether a trade down makes sense.

I am extremely doubtful the Jets are going to give up any 2027 draft capital. They have that draft circled in bright red sharpie to get their QB.

They may swing at Ty Simpson this year, though I doubt it. But either way, make no mistake… they intend to get their QB in the 2027 Draft.

Well Ty Simpson is one of 16 prospects attending the draft, so maybe he’s on a promise somewhere.

Tate doesn’t fix it, either. Nor does Tate AND Sarratt.

Neither does Aiyuk, Tate and Sarratt.

Those moves MIGHT fix it. But rookies aren’t a sure thing. We have dropped the ball time and time again at receiver. And we’ve backed ourselves into a corner.

Common opinion among NFL insiders is that no team is trading a 2027 1st to move up this year due to the expected quality of next year’s draft, which is believed to be comparatively loaded.
While he's not making the same point about moving up into the 1st, interesting the Chiefs GM expecting plenty of trading in this draft, per ESPN. Also thinks not much of an obvious drop off like other years. I was curious about the drop off comment - some say the drop off is obvious.......

Sadly even Jayden hinting on needing help..,

Let me do one better than that.

Yep. Don't want to but IF they want Lemon, I think they could move down a few spots and possibly still draft Lemon. I think. #11 maybe.
Maybe, but chiefs also have showed interest in lemon. Could be gone by their pick at 9

Is there a significance to the Jets canceling their predraft meeting with David Bailey?
