The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

Go 2 corners? Looks like you want a little heigth on the outside
I am a little surprised you wouldn't be looking to fill a different slot

I was lol corner centric, maybe too much. So in the 5th, going by where Brugler thinks the 5th rounder range fall...

Safety: Payne, Spears-Jennings
TE: Rairdon -- n o brainder if he falls that far, not sure he does. Bentley.
C: Brailsford, Burton
DT: Kaleb Proctor
RB: Singleton

You cannot - cannot - move back if Love, Delane or Styles is there.

I wouldn’t move back if Tate is there, either. But if they like Lemon or someone more - then I could understand their thought process even if I disagree with their ranking.

It's a good combination.

I am not ready to go full prediction mode yet. But for today, here's my prediction subject to change

#7. Delane
#71 Hurst or Lance or Keionte Scott whomever falls there -- if they like Hurst according to a Keim podcast, I don't know if they like Lance but its kind of the same idea, fast tall dude who can be a vertical threat. Both raw
#147: Prysock or Demmings whomever falls
I was trying to encorporate the picks that Keim and others are supposeldly reporting of EDGE, WR and CB. Where's your EDGE at? LOL

It’s a tricky call IMO.

I have safety just behind corner in terms of need. Setting aside Amos and Cross (quality starters), Sainristil and Robertson are pretty big question marks, whereas Harris and Reaves are at least ok and Quan has some potential to turn it around. To your point though, how much will the scheme protect our corners?

My sense is Delane has a higher ceiling than Downs, but Downs brings the leadership and savvy that I haven’t heard attributed to Delane.

Next year though, with Harris, Quan and Owens all being FAs and Amos/Sainristil/Robertson still in the fold, safety becomes a significantly higher need… though that could change if Sainristil and/or Robertson play poorly this year.
Makes sense

However, I think Robertson will be a good player for us.

Oh got it lol. I'd need to review his mock more in that area. One LB I like in that range is Perkins, no that position makes the most sense at that stage. I do like your TE, C,DT ad S options though

From a Keim podcast stand point, haven't gotten hints at edge.

My guesses based on their meetings:

Maybe Bain in a trade down. They had if I recall a combine meeting with R. Mason Thomas. Had a 30 with Romello Height.

For me personally in that 5th round range, I like what I've seen from Caden Curry

I was doing it based on how he ranked them in the Beast as opposed to his mock.

Yeah like you I am not a trade back guy. If its a few picks, fine. But, that's it and not if for me Love or Styles is there or if they think Delane is a shutdown corner, him too.

Definition of insanity -- doing the same thing, expecting different results.

Curry is an overachiever with his physical limitations. In the 5th round, he'd be somewhat of a semi steal. Bain seems like more of a bust due to his physical limitations but he could be a boom too. Hard to say but I wouldn't take him top 10. R Mason Thomas is slotted to be taken in late Round 1 to early Round 3. Seahawks are interested in him too.

If we want a blue chip player we cant trade down far.
KC Picks 9 they need edge Cb or Wr
NO picks 8 they need the same just like us

Must be a couple of player we really like. I just dont know how you fill all the holes on team.

Just watched a "live" mock draft. The person running the Commanders traded to 11. He did so before we were even on the clock and before he knew who Dallas picked at 6. To go to 11, he netted an extra third round pick. In doing so, he lost the opportunity to draft Tate, Delane, Bain, and others. He wound up picking Lemon and was very pleased with himself.

I have nothing against Lemon but this felt like such a Jahan Dotson trade down situation. Was it worth it just for a mid-third rounder? I don't think so.

Probably not worth reporting on, but reinforced to me the idea that I don't like the trade down option even though I thought going from 7 to 11 might not be all that bad.

Its funny Bain and Curry both have similiar builds and games.

You know, Canuck. One has been much more publicized (Bain) than the other. The social media drives their own narrative with a lot of it justified but then again depending on the individual, school etc. to some a majority is not. I hear you though. (y)

This team is in dire need of a legit true outside WR which Tate is and the best (IMO) in the draft. TM may be traded next season if not willing to renegotiate his deal at 32.

Yeah a 3rd rounder is not worth the loss felt on that one for sure. This board would be on fire if that occurred!
