(New Poll) The Washington Commanders Brand 2.0: Beer Drinkers and Hail Raisers

How do you feel about the Commanders Brand 2.0?

  • Vastly improved, if this is THE brand moving forward I’m satisfied.

  • I like the direction, but I still feel more to do. I will/have specified in thread.

  • I don’t like this new direction. I didn’t like the old either. They can’t make this work for me.

If we are stuck with Commies, I'd rather they go all out and have a pregame entrance like this with #5 on the poster...

Sure, I'd go for the Hammer and Sickle alts... some real Stalincore branding... It'd be unique

Reading through this I can’t decide whether to laugh or shake my head. So I’ll just do both simultaneously. 🤪

I need to state this.

I spent a good chunk of my military time standing against communism and defending our democracy. I fought the infiltration of communism in other countries. I absolutely fucking hate the word Commies.

I realize I need to own this, it's my own issue, but that's where I stand. No Russia no China no North Korea no Venezuela no Cuba Etc.

No fucking commies!

Interesting bit from Galdi this morning--countering the "Snyder picked it" criticism of the name. He said it was more complicated than that--and it was Jason Wright who was driving the name. I certainly assumed Snyder just waved his hand and did what he wanted, like the Haskins pick, among others. But according to Galdi, Snyder had very little to do with the name selection--he was checked out and off pouting over losing Redskins, like so many Name Nuts.

Honestly, I have often thought about this with of course no way to prove it. I’m fairly certain that the NFL powers that be had much more to do with the rebrand than we realize. It would make sense that Snyder really wouldn’t give a shit what they named them after Redskins went away. Although allegedly his wife had much to do with the design of the original rebrand uniforms, so there is that.

A lot of people have assumed that Harris has it within his power to change the name if he so chooses… that may not be the case at all, and if he can’t do it, most likely, he can’t talk about why.

Based on what? His opinion? Snyder didn’t check out, he was fighting to keep the team until the very end. Galdi is probably the biggest supporter of the C-name so this is a convenient narrative. None of us knows for sure, but Snyder was in charge. Take a whiff man… The Snyder stench is all over the name.

Maybe listen to the podcast? He said he stopped saying "the C-name" because of backlash from people who refer to it as "the C-name." He is now just calling them Washington.

This isn’t crazy surprising only bc lots of people immediately labeled Wright with his scummy McKinsey background as being a league plant, meant to move things in the right direction with Snyder in regards to a future sale, while keeping a close eye on him. It’s why a lot of us at the time said him being bad at the other aspects of his job wasn’t really the point, if that theory was true.

So if that extends to a really boring, non-controversial but clearly not focus-grouped from Washington fans name like Commanders, it wouldn’t be that shocking I guess.

Everything Jason Wright touched turned to sh*t, so it's not surprising that the effed up the name too. Bland, boring, with no real connection to DC...just having a miitary rank as the name doesn't mean squat.

Who can forget Porta-pottygate? Or Sean Taylor Wire Statuegate? Or the incorrect years on the championship patchgate??

Might wanna keep an eye on Ariel Project Level...according to LinkedIn that's where Wright is now. Not surprising that he is out of the NFL completely.

If that company goes belly-up...well, we know why.

The former team prez was an incompetent doofus, hired to placate Park Avenue rather than sent by Park Avenue to steer Ashburn. A genuinely nice guy who knew how to use all the buzzwords and catchphrases, but knew nothing about leading anything, let alone a pro sports franchise. Hiring VPs who had zero background at doing what they were hired to do helped demonstrate a need for subordinates who couldn't recognize his own ineptitude. What an idiot

I can only speak for myself (but I'm probably not alone) - if I use Commies, it's solely to make fun of the team name, Dan Snyder, and the absurdly stupid process we went through in the name change

You are not alone, I’m fairly certain that that’s an over 90% thing.

I also hate Commies for related reasons—not a big fan of totalitarianism, starvation, and genocide. So it’s not just your own issue. At this point the “commies” thing is probably my biggest gripe with the new name.

As for how to shorten Commanders, I hear people say ‘manders, which I like better.

I don’t like the current name but I like it more than I do the wife’s uniform abominations.

but, but, but.... the little squares on the numbers represent the original shape of DC... 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
