The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

I
Sheehan also said he isn’t a Love guy at 7. Galdi is the same.

Nikki J. Has said she wouldn’t take a RB or Safety on the first round ever. Except she made an exception for Downs. Because he’s the best player in the draft. Which made no sense.

Keim seems to waffle. Bram is finding it hard to leave “defense at 7,” which he’s been saying since the end of the season.

This whole position value thing is really a big deal to them.

I don’t think I’ve heard any media member I listen to (and I don’t listen to a lot of the dumbasses) say they are really pro Love at 7.

And I don’t think the team is saying anything to anybody.

The guy who probably filters the most amount of information from all sources, teams, agents, other media, league, etc. is Shefter. And he has said to look out for Love at 7 to Washington. So that’s interesting.

I want Love or Tate. We need an offensive guy. I prefer Love because I think he’s more dynamic and he could touch the ball 20 -25 times a game.

I get that Tate is very good, but I think, at least for a while, he’s going to have less immediate impact and we need immediate impact.

Anyway, it’s going to be interesting.

Keim seems good with it but not married to it. The one who seems the most hopped up about Love is Chris Russell. I haven't listened to him much of late. But I tuned in today and he's as hopped up about Love as any of us. Runner up Grant Paulsen.

I’ve been toying with a grading system… I may someday decide to do a podcast on the draft and I’ve been trying to come up with a way to grade these guys as objectively as possible while understanding a lot of it will still be subjective.

The grades combine: technique, film, production (they are all related but not the same), traits, character (what we know)

Here are some scores:

J. Love: 95.4
D. Bailey: 87.0
R. Bain: 86.0
C. Tate: 87.0
S. Styles: 90.4
A. Reese: 88.4
M. Delane: 93.6
C. Downs: 88.2

I am still trying to figure out this formula. I need to find a way to be more deterministic with certain values. But I didn’t total these until I was done with them and it’s pretty accurate as to how I actually sit on theee guys at the moment.

1. Love 95.4
2. Delane 93.6
3. Styles 90.4
4. Reese 88.4
5. Downs 88.2

I’m kind of surprised with where Delane sits. But at the same time…I’m not. Styles production and technique brought him down a bit, and I still think I’d take him over Delane so room for growth there.

Bain’s trait score killed my guy.

I think I need to find a way to incorporate my thoughts on potential.

Lots of room for improvement. And these scores are going to change.

Did you just rank Bailey over Bain?? 😁

Delane is sounding better and better every day

I did. I still wouldn’t take him before Bain…

But Bain’s trait score killed him.

I’m more surprised I had Bailey even with Tate. System needs work 😆

Agree, Styles seems NY bound.

  1. Sonny Styles, LB (Ohio State) – The Giants will have a host of Ohio State products to choose from here on both sides of the ball, and some will project them to go running back, but we keep hearing new head coach John Harbaugh has a thing for Styles, and rightfully so. He is a unique defensive weapon in this draft and while defensive might be more of a pressing need, the kids character and worth ethic and game film is too impactful to ignore.
I’m seeing some reports now about Giants selecting Love. I can see that happening too. The owner gets his Barkley back and the team gets arguably the #1 talented player in the draft. If they do draft Love, I hope Styles is there at #7.

yeah if its not Love, i have settled on Styles being who I want

I think Styles, Chenal, and Magee would be the most athletic LB core in the league.

Styles doesn't have a set NFL position. This is the riskiest pick to make in the top 10.

I’ve thought this for over a week now, reading your posts about Styles…it really feels like you think Styles is Reese. Or have gotten the narratives about them mixed up.

Edit: further catching up, I see others have the same theory, didn’t mean to pile on

Chris Russell being for a running back? The guy who screams to run the ball on every play?

I’m going to die of shock.
