Unless there is context to this, sort of a dumb thing to admit. Do I think they'd have gotten a draft pick for a center? Probably not. But looks lazy to not even try. Unless again there is some context to it where they wanted to do him a solid.

They just don’t GAF. They don’t think they will get anything, but they aren’t counting on Aiyuk, and there is obviously bad blood, so, if they might get a 2036 7th, why cut him loose sooner than they have to.

Honestly, I’d love Shannahan as a coach here, because I’d sacrifice some decency for wins, but Shannahan seems like a total dick. I hope we ram it down their throat this year, and that all of their old and injury prone players get hurt this year and he gets fired.
 
The one thing for me on the Aiyuk stuff is IMO Peters misplayed it -- if the idea is Kyle is petty.

I took Peters' combine press conference as basically -- hey we will sign him, and have no issues at all with his persona.

If Kyle is petty I can see him thinking I am not going to walk Aiyuk to the Commanders with ease and lol screw Peters for backing Aiyuk's personality in a way that some might take that they were the problem, not him.

So I wonder if the vindictive streak is aimed some at Peters here, too.
 
Listened to Standig just now, he didn't take Quinn's comment literally that they didn't explore a trade -- he took it as their was nothing formal as to being put on the trading block, instead you ask around the league about interest and gauge it informally, but he thinks they poked around on it,

 
49ers ownership takes insurance cover out on players, gets cap relief because of that when players miss time through injury. They’ll be more to their posturing linked to cash/cap or whatever.
 
Interesting dichotomy there… Niners waiting until the very last second to release Aiyuk, just in case they get an offer or something changes. Peters otoh doesn’t bother to wait with Biadasz and therefore looks bad when things did in fact change with the two sudden retirements creating additional demand.

The Aiyuk thing just feels punitive at this point. Absolutely nobody is going to take on that contract knowing full well he won't play another down for SF.

Only thing I'd offer SF is a conditional 8th rounder.

I know this is a joke, but we (and nobody else) wants to take on that contract. Now, if the 49ers wanted to cover half of his salary for remainder of his contract in exchange for a conditional 7th then we can talk.

I don’t know. I feel like Petera probably has good relationships over there still and the pettiness is directed at Aiyuk, not us.

If Aiyuk was my ex and did me that way, I’d feel petty too.

There is obviously bad blood between the player and the team.

The depth charts I have seen have Paul a LG, Coleman as backup LT. I surely had hoped I see he'd be the starting LG and didn't expect Paul to return.
 
At this time of the year depth charts are probably done by an intern.

Yeah I thought of that. But its sort of like having a friend who annoyed you on some front. I doubt its the driving force but IMO I would find Peters' comments very annoying if I were Kyle. If I had a spat with someone and a friend of mine was asked to comment on it and went on about how great a guy the person I have a spat with -- I wouldn't love it.

And as some SF reporters have said Kyle knows exactly where Aiyuk wants to go and where he likely is headed. You see how in this comment he references wanting to do no favors to the team that acquires Aiyuk.

 
Yeah and we actually play the 49ers this year so if we get him now and he's there for all of the off-season stuff it could give us an advantage.

I guess from the Biadasz cut Peters doesn't think the same way because an NFCE team could have easily picked him up then we'd have to face him 2x a year.
