The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

Mitch Tischler, who I like, on 980 going on about not Love at 7 and that he struggles against the better teams, low yard performances and you'd want more from a guy who is supposedly elite.

So lol, i looked it up. 4 games against ranked opponents averaged 125 yards a game. Only meh game was against the U. If he just said he had one bad game against the U, fine, that's correct, but him struggiling in big games is silly -- not true.
People make stuff up because they don’t think they’ll get fact checked.

Sheehan was going on about the same thing. Said he didn’t produce against any of the good defenses they faced and Price outperformed him in those games.

I’m starting to think that Delane might go before us. I’d love it if that pushed Love to us. Are the giants really better off taking a LB, safety, RB, or WR2 over a shit down corner? They definitely have needs I. The secondary. I could also see Delane going to Cleveland, which wouldn’t help us as much.
You make a valid point, but with the way Hargaugh values safety play, I think they go Downs over Delane.

Thats because we've reached the part of pre draft mania where all the prospects go from cant miss to not worthy of the hype.

we only have a month left of endless speculation and media personalities needing to keep us engaged.

2025, he had just one bad game that was game number 1 against the U and even factoring that game, all his games against ranked opponents combined to average 125 yards per.

I am gathering he's going back to the 2024 season, when mind you he was 19 years old, in the playoffs, he had a great game against Indiana, but then a pedestrian game against Penn State and a bad game against Georgia.

So lol they are really reaching with the hey he doesn't do it aganst good teams. Apparently, you can't have one bad game a season?

For kicks I looked at Bijan Robinson who Sheehan worships and says Love is no Bijan. Well by the same standards, Bijan was even worse. He faces a big boy team like Alabama, to use a Sheehan phrase (and I like Sheehan), Bijan didn't put his big boy pants on, averaging 2.7 yards a carry. Against rivals like TCU, Bijan goes 12 carries for 29 yards. He averaged 2.5 yards a carry against Baylor. 3.6 against Arkansas. Where was Bijan in those big games lol.

Sports radio is notorious for "I have a mic, so I am right." Chris Russell and Lynell Willingham are the worst about this.

Yep just checked his game log myself and Sheehan is nuts on this one. And like you, I generally like him, but he goes off on these weird side quests at times that make little sense.

I refuse to listen to Russell even one second. Doc is my two seed for worst in the area. Both totally insufferable.

Yeah Sheehan IMO misses the plot about Love. Yes, he's not as physical as Bijan. Yes, his running is more straight line, that's true,

But Love to me isn't about apples to apples comps with Bijan. They are different styles. Love's super weapons IMO are acceleration, vision, long speed, and his receiving skills.

He's not so much an east-west runner -- with wiggle and contact balance. He has those tools too but its not what IMO he majors in.

IMO what makes him so dangerous isn't just the long speed -- but the fact that he accelerates from 0-60 so quickly -- he goes from first gear to 5th gear in a flash -- Bijan IMO doesn't do that. It's an apples to oranges comp.

And heck Love averaged 6.9 YPC this season and last season. Bijan went 5.8 and 6.1 in his last two college seasons. You listen to Sheehan and you think they aren't even in the same ballpark. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but its silly IMO.

All day while working I had Just The Tape on, which has every play for some players from the last college season, I had Love on for a spell, and I would glance here and there while working and at one point I was thinking to myself this can't be just every play, because every time I look its a big play so lol my youtube must have thrown it to a Love highlight reel -- but lol nope it was just his regular plays.

That's been my comp, its the first time I've seen someone else use it

Agree with your description. He reminds me of Eric Dickerson. More compact and doesn’t have the same posture but the style of runner, north-south, instant acceleration, hurdles, and spin…I see a lot of similarities there and can’t come up with a comp I like better. Sheehan called him a faster, more athletic Josh Jacobs today which…ok.

I can see that. Nice one. Silky smooth.

Washington Commanders
Worst-case scenario: Drafting an RB early
The Commanders attempted to surround Jayden Daniels with veteran talent to make a push for a Super Bowl. However, those pieces didn’t pan out as Daniels took a step back and was oft-injured.

With several weaknesses on the roster, selecting a non-premium position with a decorated draft pick would be a massive misstep for an organization that has been able to find good running back talent late in the draft.

With Jeremyiah Love likely to be available at the Commanders’ first pick, the temptation will be great. Yet, it must be resisted despite the potential of a high-powered Daniels and Love backfield

I’m on a wild ride. Put on Boston, liked what I saw at a glance, so started reading a bit more. Saw he was David Boston’s son. Seen about 5 different YPRR figures for zone now and some are much better and well above the necessary threshold. Now learned he’s NOT David Boston’s son. Saw some moron arguing he’s Jefferson. Yes really. I gotta dig into where the number in that graph comes from. You have any direct source PFF numbers? My source was really reputable but it’s always possible they got something twisted. If he’s out of the dead zone it changes a lot for me.

This… doesn’t make any sense.

Yeah that was Monson-Steve P's take too, ex-PFF guys on a segment, they think it would be an insane move.

I think its short sighted on their end. And it sort of plays into ironically a point that Sheehan made (I made the same one last week) on his show the other day talking to a sports better which is why aren't Vegas and the national media giving this team any credit for a potential bounce back considering Jayden and all the injuries they had last year.

He goes Cincy among others are giveb credit for in their minds for bouncing back but they are keeping Washington down in their predictions for next season.

It's true. Seems like Vegas and most of the national media are considering now Washington a mediocre to bad team -- to them 2024 was the fluke, 2025 was more of the real team. There are other new cool team that are rising in the NFL, Washington not among them.

I like it and don't like this. I like it from the stand point of Peters-Quinn you want to get your edge back? Here you go. People think you guys suck. I was reading the other day an article from JLC about talking to teams GMs, to name that good off seasons from teams centering on FA -- they didn't name Washington but did name the new cool kid on the block the New York Giants which the sports better Sheehan was talking to also implied people are more intrigued by. Where I don't like it is the off season is long and its annoying to hear this team charactericized with so much doom and gloom.

But for example as I've previously mentioned, one of the few who believes in a bounce back year is Mel Kiper and he seems to like Love to Washington. But yeah if I saw this as a 5-13 team, slow rebuild to go as some in PFF (not all by the way) and others see it, Love makes no sense.

But if you see this team as a playoff team, Jayden bounces back, the team is healthy, Love makes plenty of sense.

This logic makes no sense. So we should reach for a premium position but a lesser player? Good call, John. 🙄

Then you add, if they took Styles or Downs also nonpremium positions, it would be brilliant by some of these same people.

You don't take the best player in the draft in a nonpremium poisition, much smarter to take the 5th or 6th best player in the draft in a nonpremium position.

Chances JLC just ignored any mention of Washington?
