The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

I am getting the impression he didn't run or do any of the agility exercises -- so that to me is a red flag.

His size, non premium position, (possible) injury issue, and lack of testing…I’m sure he’s a wizard mentally but that’s too many factors for me to bet on at 7.

I feel like AP won’t bite on Bain regardless. Downs worries me. There’s that doomsday scenario that could play out 1-6 and he could be BPA.

He's a great read and react safety, smart as hell, high intangibles -- but safeties who have gone high in the draft are freakish athletes. Downs watching him clearly isn't -- and factoring he had no interest disproving the concerns to me adds to the idea of do you take a safety without great mesurables that high?

I like the player but this doubles down why he's lower on my list than some of the other top 10 type prospects.

If wash can trade down… I wouldn’t hate a partial trade for next years high picks. There should be much more value next year.

Get away from him, he is ours!

The NYG apparently have 6 picks in the top 7.

I've become almost as obsessed as KDawg at getting Love at 7, Styles to me is the runner up. Then Tate. I am expecting Bailey and Reese to be gone top 5.

So for what its worth, lol probably nothing, I've been paying attention to McShay and other draftniks who claim they are talking to NFL teams and getting hints. Feels like with the Giants its been Styles and then followed by Tate. Some in the draft media like to stick them with Downs but at least the scoops seems to be much heavier to Styles or Tate. But who knows, will see.

If I had to bet on one player that's discussed for the top 10 who won't be taken before Washington's pick for me that easily would be Downs.

Would Love that at 7...

My rooting interests in the first 6 picks of the draft are.... (1) Bain to be picked, (2) TWO tackles drafted.

Id like Love, but I know I can't predict what Peters will do, so I just want the player pool available to us to be as attractive as possible!

I think what’s going totally overlooked is some of the guys in our pick range are probably going to outright bust or at least seriously disappoint. I’m listening to Grant and Danny right now and they’re saying, I like them all and we’re debating between super models. We’ll throw a party no matter who we end up with.

Which I’m sorry, that’s not how things typically play out AND this is widely considered a weak draft. I feel like there are active landmines just waiting to blow up in the top 10. In our range. And I read this thread everyday and it’s mostly the same. The only guy I see take consistent flak is Tyson for being injured and Bain for being a T-Rex, and there’s always a ton of pushback on Bain.

Don’t you guys think some of them are going to bust?

Of course, its hype season and the hype has caused a lot of players to look better than they really are, happens every year.

Truth is, half of these guys we're all drooling over are going to bust and you gotta pick the right one and put them in a position to succeed.

When the college season ended before the hype train had left the station it seemed like love and downs were the big names.

Thats why those are my one, two. The guys that seem most likely to be top 5 in the league at their respective positions.

Its unfortunate both play devalued positions but if they didn't they wouldn't be available at 7.

The rest of them, they all have potential but I think the likelihood of them being superstars is lower, but superstars come from all over the draft too.

Watching Orlovsky hype up Simpson just now. Between that and hyping on X that he was right about Jayden, right about Jaxson Dart, etc. His ego is a bit wild, he's been as wrong about players as anyone else.

Orlovsky joined ‘First Take’ on Monday morning and discussed Chicago’s quarterback. In doing so, he went as far to say that Fields will warrant MVP consideration through his individual play,

Allen is the one making decisions -- knowing that Snyder likes Haskins -- and should be under pressure if this doesn't work. But what if it does work out? It's not like the Redskins reached for Haskins. It's a move that some loved -- such as ESPN's Louis Riddick, a former safety and NFL executive, and Dan Orlovsky

Another caveat with Downs. It's not just the size and athleticism that is lacking. It's that he doesn't make splash plays either. He does the right thing well. He knows what other people should be doing well. He helped Matt Patricia identify things to slow down opposing offenses in-game. But something is off in that he can't turn his ability to know what the defense will do to what the offense is doing, and then make plays off of it.

He's going to play in the league until he's 30, and then he's going to be a Defensive Coordinator by 40. That's awesome. But you aren't drafting him this high to be a wunderkind X's and O's scheme guy.

I’m just obsessed with supporting Jayden. Don’t know what I’d do if Tate and Love were both there, but almost positive that won’t happen. Just give me one please.

The nightmare is Reese, Bailey, Styles, Love, Tate, are all gone. And it could easily happen. If so I’m desperately hoping for a trade back. And if not, Delane or Lemon in some undetermined order.

I hope some GM is swayed and he gets picked top 6.... it's prolly a pipe dream, but crazier things have happened!

It's really very simple. You buy an extra large sweat shirt. Put them both in it so that they're standing side by side. Then, Peters says their names together really fast. Goodell, not being too bright looks up and thinks they are conjoined twins and nods. Boom! We get two players with our pick.
