The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

That’s quite the stretch and an insult to Jefferson who is currently one of the top 5 WRs in the game. Jefferson can do it all for one. He is elite both in route running and YAC. You can line him up anywhere. Tate has a major weakness to his game and it’s YAC. He doesn’t create after the catch. Stop with this rage bait. 😂

Jefferson probably goes top 10 if Brady didn’t move him inside in 2019, everyone just figured he was a slot receiver 😂

I said the comps for Tate in the most flattering way has been Jefferson and for Tyson its been Diggs. I also said I disagreed with the Jefferson comp to Tate or Tyson. And even made a different comp to the player.

Rage bait? Man, I think I could just whisper Tate and ruin your afternoon.

You got around to watching Koziol yet? Want to hear your thoughts on the 2nd day thread. May have missed it.

Also wondering how CJ Daniels did today at pro day

The have a similar 40 time and catch radius and that’s about where the similarities end.

All players get compared to someone. And I never said the video said he is Jistin Jefferson. Compared how he moves and get out of his breaks like JJ. It's a slap in the face to compare Love to Bijan. We can do this with all players.

Not yet. But I'll get through the tight ends, I always do. For now, I did spend some time compiling stats -- Koziol looks good on that front and ditto as an athlete

Yeah I gather Bain didn't remeasure his length. Or willing to run or do agility exercises. And to bring some perspective, there are plenty of players who aren't fast but are willing to do the verticals or 3 cone or horizontal because they figure they can showcase something athletically. IMO there is almost no chance he and or his agent feels he can do anything well if he passed on all of it -- speed or agility.

If so, with Bain, we'd be banking on a short armed, small hands, shortish height wise too for the position -- with likely meh speed and meh agility. I know he was a better college player than Ryan Anderson but the parallels between those two players continue to grow. Similar height, hand size, arm length (Ryan's actually longer) with meh agility and speed. But heck Ryan is a baller, tone setter, he just produces -- he plays angry, forget all the stupid metrics and measurables because ball is ball and this dude is a football player and is physical-strong -- enough said.

And look I don't know maybe Bain defies the odds. But I don't want to bet big on an outlier -- not with the #7 pick. If they were picking 24, fine lets roll the dice and see if he defies the odds.

I think that’s it to me and he’s off my board. It’s the opposite of Delane. Good tape, but athletic concerns and want to be reassured. At least that it’s above average athleticism. Bain and Tyson, with the injury concerns, would not make me happy at 7.

That being said, I think Love, styles, and Delane, are now my favorites at the 7th pick. I’d rather have a shut down CB than a great safety.

Haven't decided about Downs vs Delane. But I get your point everything being equal a corner is more valuable.

Maybe downs is better. But the Delane stats are insane. Played for LSU and the SEC and no receiver caught more than one pass against him? Zero TD’s? More PBU’s than first downs surrendered. I almost can’t wrap my mind around those stats. And now with a 4.38? I do t understand how he isn’t being talked about more.

Yeah profile wise he stands out. 8 career picks, too

And I think an elite CB might help the defense ALMOST as much as a Love would help the offense. But, not quite. And I’m not nearly as sold on Delane as on Love. I’m almost as confident in Love as I was in Chase Young. Not as much with Delane, but he has the tape and now the measurables.

Only thing I wonder is his niche is playing man and the scheme is going to be heavy zone. But clearly this team is intrigued considering they’ve met with him twice.

It still surprises me Delane gets such little mention here (until now lol). For a while I was like the board forgot about the OL and Delane possibly being selected in the top 6. Delane is a really good CB and his name should be in the conversation whenever Downs is unless we are speaking of Downs physical concerns

Wow those stats are too good - inferior opposition is the only thing I can come up with. Like you I've wanted Downs or Love but yeah, I'm having to watch the film again now ....

These stats are a little misleading in that there have been plenty of guys catching passes near him but aren't really his fault. The scheme asks him to do a bit of everything. Press coverage, press-bail, off, deep off, slide shuffle. Zone coverages, Man, etc.

Every now and then LSU's defense gets exposed a little because teams know they can High-Low the outside corners zone, or sometimes even just left side and right side of the zone.

Delane tries to stay near the middle of both guys so he can then tackle who catches it to limit the gain, but one of them will catch it. He's not selling out to read the QB's eyes there then jump a throw, he plays that conservatively.

So there are plenty of catches with him as the closest defender that aren't actually his fault or should be attributed to him. It's just the scheme shifts players elsewhere and asks him to bend but don't break if the QB sees it and gets the ball out in time.

I did watch Delane vs South Carolina today. 4.35 speed doesn't appear on tape unless that 225lb RB is stupidly fast (this is why people thought Delane wouldn't test well, his play speed isn't 4.35). LaNorris Sellers didn't do anything to test Delane. Just bad reads, happy feet in the pocket, bailing on plays quickly and poor accuracy. Delane got beat deep by half a step. Great throw would have been a catch without him interfering but it was a poor throw. A little behind...and out of bounds. Later on Delane's pass breakup was just textbook, he played the route really well...it didn't help that Sellers was also a little late on the throw. But Delane would have probably made the catch difficult regardless.

My point is...Delane is a good CB prospect, but he's not Champ Bailey, Patrick Surtain, or Christian Gonzalez. Although I do like Delane's moxie a little bit better than college version of Gonzalez.

Strength, frame and he has 30” arms ermergerd!

Those are his weaknesses. He kinda reminds me a little bit of Kool-Aid when I watch him.

His 4.38 speed doesn’t really show up on film.

But he’s elite. I was on him a lot and then he kinda fell off my radar and now I watched him again. And I am not sure he won’t be my #2 by the time the draft rolls around…

Love
Styles/Reese
Delane
Tate
Downs
