The 2026 Free Agency Thread

I swear some of you just don’t want to admit Bill isn’t where he needs to be yet
A 7th round rookie not being a polished, finished product?!

I'm usually not one to be critical of kdawg. But I do disagree on JKM. I think he has great vision, I've seen him pick through and then explode through a hole. For an explosive back he moved the pile pretty well. His pass pro obviously needs work but that's typical of a rookie. I don't recall him dropping passes, or even given that opportunity, so not convinced he can't be a receiving threat. What I do know is after receiving a swing pass in the open field he has much more explosion and power than McNichols, who I have praised throughout the offseason.

It’s almost like that was my point and, to tie this into the FA thread, why we needed other guys so that Bill could develop!

Back to FA: I'm also really glad we didn't give Ettienne $52m
Considering the RB group we have assembled and their contracts thus far, it is hard to disagree!
I kind of wish they had signed White to more than a one year deals but hey...lol

Agreed. Way overpaid for his overall production value.

I had no idea he went for that much. Once he was off the table, he was out of mind. But, I cosign these thoughts. Super happy we didn't pay out a 13 AAV contract over a 4 year term. Maybe for Breece, or Walker. Maybe.

On a side note, I would die to know what we have left in cap space, and what Jajuan Jennings is asking for. It feels like that ship has sailed, but I wonder if he was still available after the draft, and we don't draft a WR, if we might circle back.

Etienne actually got $9m more than Walker.

I wonder if Treylon Burks is viewed higher than we realize. We could have very easily been in on Michael Pittman, Jauan Jennings is unsigned--they're both bigger, possession type receivers similar to Burks. I'd much rather have Pittman and Jennings, but maybe he's a bigger part than we realize?

I think they’re planning on Burks being a big deal. However… they are definitely hedging that bet and are planning on hedging it further.

I view Burks like I view Bill. If they continue to improve they are a major boon. If they fail to continue to develop we need more “guaranteed” (never a guarantee) players in their position groups.

Burks, Aiyuk, and a rookie behind Terry is a risky strategy.

I still dont understand how a team can void all of the guarantees in your contract and yet somehow the contract is still in force.

Imagine your employer telling you they're no longer paying you but you cant go work anywhere else.

Umm, yeah that doesn't work for me.
