Best separator and route runner in the class imo. And he is a TD machine when healthy. Good size and speed combo. Can stretch the field at his size. High contested catch rates as well. Just an all around weapon. Has some drops at times. But those health issues.....
on the first level he is the best seperator, maybe 2nd, not deep IMO. He's no more a TD machine than Tate or Lemon, their stats are almost identical on that front. The PFF contested catch rate 43.8% for Tyson. Lemon 66.7%. Tate 85.7%. And it looks it too IMO when you watch the three. Of the three I'd trust Tate or Lemon more than Tyson on contested catches.
I just rewatched a little while ago half of Tyson's games. I can see it all on a site called just the tape every game back to back which is cool it gives you a good flavor for the WRs. Love him on slants, digs, comebacks -- in part because he has such quick feet and is so twitchy.
If I am plugging him, his highs are higher than the other 2. He's not the most consistent contested catch guy for example but when he makes one its spectacular. His hands aren't IMO as good as Tate but Tyson has the more spectacular catches. If its purely a contest of highlight film, Tyson kicks everyone's butt. And if the idea who is going to have those Beckham like highlight catches -- its him.
Because he has the higher highs. He's the more twitchy of the three, quickest feet -- I get those that think he's the best. But to me its a flavor. Like choclate ice cream versus choclate chip -- both are good, it just depends on what is your type of flavor.
IMO Tate is the slight better WR (regardless of health) but its close. Tate with the better hands, the better blocker, high points the ball better, the better contested catch guy, better at tracking the deep ball. But the two are entirely different type of receivers.
To use a baseball analogy -- Tate is more of the homerun hitter and more consistent IMO on some key fronts. Tyson is the doubles hitter but also the dude who will be on espn highlights for some crazy diving catch in the outfield.
So for me Tate is the more dangerous player because for me the contested catches and the deep ball tracking gives him the ability to kill you quickly. Tyson is more death by a thousand cuts. Both very intriguing to me. I can see how one can like one over the other. It's just different flavors. But the injuries to me make this a no brainer.
I will also add Arizona St games had the more enthused announers, lol they can throw it to Tyson and he doesn't land the ball but they talk about him and that team with such enthusiasm that lol it makes you feel good about him and that team no matter what happens. There are some boring college announcers. But Arizona State had some really enthusiastic ones. I never really thought that it until today but lol it might have added to my enthusiasm last year for Skattebo -- some of those dudes covering their games are so insanely enthusiastic that lol it subconsciously invades your brain a little.
