I do like Jennings a lot. But we have already dropped almost 200 million in free agency. I dont know if we can afford him. Plus I kinda think of him as a given. Would love to see him blocking for Love if you know what I mean. :)

What I love about Downs is he would be the true leader and foundational piece for us to build a defense around. This is often overlooked but with Bobby potentially gone, we lack a true alpha leader. Our best is probably Payne and he's likely gone next year. Downs is the guy who will make every other position player better and help mitigate our lack of defensive talent.

I would be stoked if we are able to land him here.

Agree, I've posted similar points about how well he fits that scheme -- including ala Harrison Smith directing the defense and helping make quick shifts pre and post snap

So why did the Jags, a good org led by Coen and Gladstone, give CRod that deal instead of signing someone for the vet minimum?

I don’t think there will be any other team that uses him the way we did; meaning, not sure how anyone could be definitive about him. His ypc here was good but the role he filled was not big enough to judge, at least to me.

Jags are guessing he has some talent. Most teams don’t view themselves as needing Barkley to succeed. CRod’s problem is on passing downs but again: it may be usage more than anything.

He is 37 and probably will be one of the best players to not make the Hall of Fame. Given his understanding of the Flores D and his ability to teach it in meeting rooms, I’d love to have him on a 1 year deal. Cut Will Harris, Butler, Owens or Quan to make room
 
Pretty pleased overall with what we’re doing. The defense should be better. I actually believe in everything we’ve done on that side.

Offense… I’m a bit more nervous. Chig is solid.

We need receivers and running backs. Badly.

I get the logic but man we thought Bobby Wagner and Zach Ertz were old two years ago....

Would be OK with it as a depth piece. Plus he can teach the Defense. But I am glad we finally started to go young on the defense. Dont want him starting for us.
