Green Bay is a funny team. They move out Kenny Clark and Rashan Gary to reduce cap hit at DT and supposedly get younger on defense and then they are all in on Hargreave at 33?

Don't know what they are cooking on that side of the ball in GB other than the fact that Jerry Jones can't get enough of their discards.

Sometimes that's a polite excuse.

I agree but I think the coaches have reviewed his performance and think they can get more out of him.

I'm not against keeping him... but at the risk of stating the obvious, there are two situations I'd prefer...

1) Replace him with equal talent for less money

2) Replace him with a player we plan to keep for 2+ years

I have to assume our FO would do one of these if possible.

Allen went to Minnesota knowing the scheme that Flores was going to run so I don't see any surprises there. Allen is a smart guy and has 9 years in the league.

It's definitely possible to cut Payne and recoup the $17M and take the hit for the balance.

So, one would have to assume they simply don't want to make this move at this time.

I think there is a difference in the way we as fans see Payne and how the team does.

We see a player that at times looks like he is going through the motions and doesn't seem to be energized to play because he is not that vocal or visibly leading as Jonathan Allen did.

Coaches see a player that is quietly playing through injuries and showing up each Sunday without a lot of help on the DL from another wise thinly talented group.

Allen also got a pay raise by Minny. Hard to say no to that. I think Minny going after Allen and Hargrave for real money is one of the highlighted reasons that GM got fired. Why spend that money if they aren't really a scheme fit for the cap amount?

There's a lot of that going on around the league

Who do we have at center? Allegretti?

He was on Grant and Danny, good listen if you get a chance. He's played center most of his football life, did it on the scout team the last couple years and excited to get a chance to compete there this year. He said it's a much more cerebral position which he likes. Said he was helping Tyler B. a lot with diagnosing/lineups whenever he was at guard. Sounded to me like they are going to bring in competition (according to him). He's a good guy.

The competition part makes me feel better.

I suppose the Chiefs never used him at center because they had a pro bowler there for a number of years.

Ok I feel much better about all this now. We just need a #2 receiver and a back. LOVE the Chig signing. .
