I'd be surprised if Saadiq is. They supposedly have some hope for Sinnott. to me Sinnott is sort of the same type of player -- don't get me wrong though he's much better than Sinnott -- but its somewhat the same formula, good move blocker -- YAC fiend. To me Saadiq is a rich man's, very rich version of Sinnott.

If I had a hot take, maybe its Ioane. I haven't watched him yet but if he is that level of an insane guard -- Q. Nelson level, I can see that as a maybe.

 
If neither of Love, Tate or Downs are there at 7 I'd really try to trade back, maybe someone would want on of the edges?

I bet he’s on our board, probably after Saadiq.

But I love Ioane.

I’d hate to draft him… because it means no Love, Styles, Reese or Downs…

But he’s so good.

I had been considering him, but I head on one of these draftnik shows that he’s a much better fit for a power man scheme and less so for a team that employs an outside zone scheme. What take do you guys have on that?

Honestly, if we are going out of the box, and the top guys are gone, Mansoor Delane might be my choice.

I’m big on acquiring talent and adjusting your scheme to fit it. So…

Are we arguing about what I meant in my own thoughts now? I know we’re getting jumpy but yeesh.

No, because I’d hate the draft a guard at 7 in this particular class because there is a bunch of skills talent available that this team needs desperately.

I also love Ioane.

And I believe in acquiring talent AT ALL POSITIONS and then the coaches doing their actual job and making it fit.

The glue pieces you look for scheme fit. The blue chips you take and figure it out.

I guess I wanted to ask YOUR opinion of how he’d do in an outside zone scheme. I don’t think my eyes are as good as yours for that kind of stuff and I don’t just automatically trust pundits.

He does a little of both at Penn State. I think he fits a lot of rolls. He’s not a really fast OL that can get to space effortlessly. But he gets out there.

He can also pull. He can also pass protect with heavy hands.

He’s probably a guy that would maximize a gap scheme but would be good in zone.
 
still plenty of FAs to sign, but wouldn’t be surprised if we end up with Delane. Wouldn’t be mad if it’s him or love.
 
After todays transactions and in all likelihood Tate and LOve not being there at 7 I would do everything I can to trade back and pick up a 1st next yr, even if it means trading out of rd 1 this yr and stockpiling picks.

I realize it takes 2 to tango, but the FO has done a good (great) job filling holes and rd1 in thsis years draft is weak.

I don't know that we'd get that, I think next year's draft is already considered strong and I would imagine most GMs already know this. So those assets will have some extra value.

Add to that, I am pretty sure DQ knows how important it is he gets things moving visibly in the right direction this year. So I would imagine he'd be loathe to put anything off for next year.

If they can find a trade partner for multiple later picks, that could be a thing. As with all things draft, many things can change in the last minutes too.

Thanks to AP, there are a lot of interesting options now.

I think we should probably wait to see if Tate or Love are there.
