You can and I would bet most teams do. Their BPA grade includes some element of positional grading based on their own roster. As you well know there are two major schools of thought on the draft, bpa or draft for need.
What your describing is drafting for need but you've overlooked the fact that we have gaping holes almost everywhere.
We can draft bpa and for need at the same time.
With the emphasis on adding pass catchers, I’m willing to bet they rate wide receiver as one of our largest needs.
Trust me, I haven’t overlooked much with this roster. Been debating people all offseason. Including telling people Blough/Quinn was going to make this a tough destination.
I’ve been met with a lot of resistance and I am still hoping I’m wrong. Lots of time still.
But I can see us forcing a receiver. And I don’t love the idea. But until it happens I can’t worry too much about it.
LloydWell to be fair, most of these guys aren't really Tier 1 players. Besides Lindenbaum, who was seriously overpaid, who else is a top 10 starter in the league?
Just think out loud, if we do not upgrade WR/TE more than just Ayiuk and scrubs, and with Love and Tate not being on the board at y, would Siddiq be an option?
I don't blame people for thinking Maye is better than Jayden. I get it both his durability beat Jayden, his big year last year was better than Jayden's best year and he got even further in the playoffs.

They have to. They have to get on the board with something of relative quality. They can’t keep sitting out.I think the narrative that the national media is throwing out there suggesting money is equal on Doubs -- that one might hurt them. Peters didn't even interview Vrabel. There is perception deserved or not that Peters took the wrong QB. And both points are sort of subtly shoved in his face with this one.
Makes me think they might overpay some for the next FA, Jennings? Out of reaction.
My post was intended to be mostly humor based on the fact that right now our roster sucks, but yes I agree. You can and I would bet most teams do. Their BPA grade includes some element of positional grading based on their own roster.

Add in the fact NE has a far better defense, a rising QB and is in a cupcake division and you get players choosing them over us. I cant fault them. They might have to overpay. Jayden doesn't have the same buzz that he did in 2025. Quinn feels like a lame duck. There isn't any cool aura around this team.

I hope you are right SIP, and that after next season people start to see the magic we saw in 24 again, however I'm not holding my breath at this point because even though AP said he was going to get JD some protection via weapons, he has done less than nothing.I don't blame people for thinking Maye is better than Jayden. Perception wise its Maye hands down over Jayden right now.
Personally, I think it will change again in favor of Jayden after the 2025 season but until then Maye is seen as the more attractive QB to bet on.
Wonder if they’ve called Deebo yet
