He had 60 total catches this season. He was traded to Seattle in November, which always means time to get up to speed. They obviously see him growing into a larger role there (although he cleared things out for JSN well). If anything his new-to-Seattle stats put into context how he was a higher volume guy in NO before being traded, which goes against your narrative. He caught between 4-9 balls each week this year before being traded into a new scheme. 45 catches in 9 games. When was the last time we had a WR2 consistently do that?

But imagine if we had paid Pierce 32M a year. I'm glad they are probably going to go for Aiyuk at 10M and maybe Jennings or Doubs at 1/2 of Pierce money each.

Yeah - I am not going to criticize them for not paying that. I said in our pod he would be the top guy but that there was no way they wouldn't franchise tag him. While they didn't franchise tag him, they actually paid him the tag money anyway. I don't think he's worth that contract, but the bottom line is, if you want to get a top tier WR in free agency, you are going to have to overpay and probably by more than a smidgeon. We haven't done that for any offensive weapons so far.

Yeah, that wasn't what I was looking at when I made the statement though. He did in fact have 15 catches in 9 games in Seattle.

He'd likely play a different role somewhere else.

I'd rather have had Shaheed than Pierce though. I just didn't ever see it happening because AP needs to validate his picks. It would look really bad if Shaheed came in and took away any reason for his last 2 years 3rd and 4th round picks, which Shaheed would likely do.

Need to get someone for your Franchise QB to throw the ball to. Okonkwo had just an average season and he was the leading receiver. Pollard had a good season running the ball. They need to get Tate

They very well may. Love needs to get past Cleveland to us and that may not be as easy as everyone thinks.

Because he’s also a ST’s ace? I highly doubt it, that’s a skill he’d bring to the table but he would’ve been signed to be the clear WR2.

Who knows if we were in on him (though Keim mentioned him specifically multiple times), SEA traded a 4th and 5th for him and offered a nice contract to keep him, and he obviously wanted to return to the team he just won a SB with who wanted him badly enough to trade for him and help make him a champion. Now that we know SEA was willing to pay that contract, he was probably never actually as available as the media thought and reported, he just wanted leverage.

But the point remains, you called him a 1-2 catch per game sort of guy, clearly not trying to be technically correct but speaking about his worth in FA.

In reality he was on an 85 catch pace in NO before being traded mid-season, a number Terry has achieved once, early in his career.

Shaheed would have been very productive here with Jayden throwing the ball and that’s the whole point of the disagreement. He didn’t project as a 1-2 catch per game guy.

If the Giants go with Downs, which was already speculated all over the internet, then we have to pick up the best premium position available, or just get Styles or Love.

IMO I'd look hard at WR, Edge, and even the best Guard before I signed a RB at 7 because of the cap implications of those picks.

And this FO seems to be on the cheap side in FA, so you have to think they are looking to maximize their draft picks.

Makes sense. Im less worried about NY. I totally feel they will go with Downs. Tennessee is the Wild Card to me.

They just used pretty premium draft capital on Quinshon Judkins so I highly doubt they’re a threat to take Love
