The 2026 Free Agency Thread

The Walker steam right now seems especially interesting because it’s free agency eve, which means free agency has already started lol. So this noise popping up has legs if you ask me. Maybe we land him and maybe we don’t, but I’m buying that we are on the short list.

I'd love it. I am more excited about him at RB then some of the mentions at WR and TE and Edge and CB. And I like the mentions at those spots. But Walker I'd be stoked about.

But lol, i don't want to get my hopes up and then see him elsewhere especially if its NY.

To rate my excitmement level on some of the mentions as to ties to this team 1-10 scale, out of boredom I'll rate it. :)

1. Walker. 10
2. Pierce. 9.5
3. Okonkwo 9
4. Jennings 8.5
5. Saheed 8.5
6. Doubs 8
7. Evans 8
8. All the edges mentioned rate about an 8 to me, I don't have a big preference
9. Dowdle 7.5
9. R White 7.5
9. Likely 7.5
10. All the CBs rate about a 7 to me, I don't have a big preference

Man I’m about the same as you. Can’t quibble with any of this really, except I don’t really want Evans. I’d probably get a companions burst if it actually happened though lol.

I started out wanting Likely more but think I’m on the Chig train now too.

I keep thinking about the probably of taking Daron Payne off the books next year and a Terry McLaurin release next year which gives the ability to backload some of these FA players contracts. Maybe that gives us more room to sign even more high priced FA's cause names like Walker, Pierce, Phlillps, Oweh, etc. is a hefty hit to that $90 mil cap. Oh and resigning Tunsil.....

And a lot of fans are still stuck on the WWJGD or WWBBD hamster wheel.

Spending $25M on a center is not what I had in mind when reports were that Washington was going to be aggressive in free agency.

I don't really trust Schultz, mostly because he contradicts the locals that are a lot more proven. Keim has repeatedly said they weren't going to spend big on C. Schultz I think tends to be an agent mouthpiece, so grain of salt here.

Top 5 player in FA, don’t think his agent needs to use the media too much in this instance.

I'm split on Walker. I think he's probably the best RB in the FA class, sure, but also it really pushes Bill down, and also makes a Love pick not really viable.

Now if the FO has already talked with KC about a trade to 9 if Love is still on the board at 7 and your other targets are gone, and your plan weighs the people who will be around at 9 the same at the non-Love people at 7, then sure, Walker is a fine guy to sign.

But if there's even a 10% chance we pick Love, I'm staying away from Walker and grabbing a nice complimentary piece in a White/Gainwell.

I was wondering the opposite, we have the ability to slightly front load some deals pre massive QB contract. Although in reality get a good numbers person in the room and the cap is largely irrelevant.

You just need to be willing to throw a lot of guaranteed cash around these days.

In honor of this tweet, I will be wear these same speedos all day tomorrow, for luck

He's negotiating with the Ravens still, of course it does.

Disagree. Ravens simply trying to balance the books, especially since they’ve taken on the Crosby contract. Plus, the Ravens doesn’t seem to lose too much sleep over this kind of thing.

Do you really think they are sat saying, oh no Washington are interested, let’s give him 5m p/y more ? Nah, don’t see it personally.

Didn't say it was going to work--it certainly didn't when he was the mouthpiece for Terrys asshat agent last year, employing the same tactics. But it's worth the attempt. Absolutely nothing lost by floating this out there
