In no way would it surprise me if we used our 3rd or 5th rounder on a C or G. I almost expect it

I think I’d prefer CRod to Allgeier. Less strain on cap and similar productiob.

Of that second tier the only one I see as a scheme fit is White. I don’t feel good about him as our lead, but in the event that it’s not Love that we wind up with he is the best option for an all-around back that won’t break the bank.

I’d be melancholy with White, but not frustrated. It’s a positive step.

Yeah I am not sure either Allgeier. That tidbit was is from Standig. Eons ago under Jay's run, Standig had a good run of gossip, much ending up true. But its been awhile for him. He's throwing some stuff out there this time, willl see how well he does, Allgeier is among the things he's heard.

Allgeier strikes me as a bigger name version of Rodriguez. And I don't see how it flows with the idea of getting a back who catches passes.

Me either. For whatever its worth, its been said that want compeition for Allegretti without spending big money, that can also be a draft pick.

Thanks for the info/post as always, SIP. I'd really like to see them outbid and get Pierce. I think he's head and shoulders the best FA WR and AP will regret not getting the youngest, best available WR, even if it exceeds TM's salary. Jennings would be good consolation but do he and Aiyuk play together again in DC like in SF. I hope not and even if Aiyuk didn't like playing in SF, to me it raises red flags about him as a player.

Hoping for Oweh over Mafe and stay away from Phillips.

Hoping for Taylor as he just fits best at CB.

I figured RB White as JD5 has connections with but it shouldn't be about connections but best player.

Thanks again for the post/input.

Yeah Pierce would be a great get. I am fine with Aiyuk in a one year prove it deal -- BFF with Jayden and he'd have to prove himself to get that next contract.

I'd go Mafe over Oweh but good with both. As far as Phillips goes he's a beast when healthy, and can also stop the run, but not sure about his health?

I like Taylor, too at CB.

I'd be happy with Rachaad White at CB even though he's not my top choice.

For me it’s mostly because there are a ton of CB’s potentially available on Monday and I really don’t know what skillset this new D prioritizes vs how much coin they’re looking to drop.

It’s also an awkward situation because if you project that they’re spending to add a legit outside CB to pair with Amos, which in a vacuum sounds good, it means they’re likely still mistakenly thinking of misusing Sain in the slot which he just hasn’t been very good at. His lack of size/length and lack of press ability make him unideal outside but he’s undoubtedly been better there than elsewhere. Allegedly this new D will allow him to play off and hunt, but we don’t know

So the other alternative is that we spend on a proven slot CB, and just risk it with Sain outside.

So it’s just kinda messy to figure out not only who may fit us, but what we actually need and what they’ll prioritize.

EDGE, WR, off ball LB are all simpler lol
It narrows the field significantly, but I’m hoping for a high quality corner with experience/success inside and outside. Basically an upgraded version of Johnathon Jones (and for that same reason, Jones might not be a bad fit for depth). 2nd best option (IMO) would be a good slot corner along with a versatile depth signing.

In terms of depth, I’d prefer a younger version of Jones though regardless for the growth potential/upside, longevity/stability (ie more than a 1 year contract), and because they could be a starter, trade piece, or even factor in the comp pick math down the road. Depends on the financials and who’s available of course, and as I said, it probably narrows the field quite a bit.

The issue with Taylor is the inside-outside flexibility is a bit misleading. He’s fine outside but not particularly good inside. Won’t be worth the Adebo money he will get

The way Keim explained it, sounds very much like its something he's heard. Will see, As for Keim, I understand you don’t see him as someone who really “knows,” when he puts something out that isn't a report and you’ve been consistent about that for a long time. And I don't want to dive back into that rabbit hole, especially after i spent almost an hour more or less transcribing a long podcast for the benefit of some here who are interested. :)

I heard the Bram Coleman stuff from Bram's podcast. Maybe but I doubt it. In part because looks like they very likely lose Chris Paul and for what its worth lol some that cover the team (not just Keim) believe Paul is gone if he gets a good deal elsewhere and if so Coleman is likely slated at LG. I see them signing a swing center-guard similar to Allegretti. They would need to if Coleman replaces Paul. They do have Trent Scott and Wylie as backup tackles. But I'll give this regime props that they do tend to value depth on the O line.
Just a quick point, and maybe it's irrelevant, but I listen to Keim also, because while I don't think he gets a lot of scoops, I do think he puts things together really well, and is well informed. Maybe it's a distinction without a difference. I like Keim.

If a FA RB is added it has to be an Ekler replacement, so someone who is good in the passing game.

Allgier seems like a higher priced C-Rod, whom I think needs to more opportunity.

I would only be ok with Aiyuk IF that was the second signing (not necessarily in signing order) but there was a guy who was an actual proven guy also, and then they brought in Aiyuk on a prove it, 1 or 2 year deal.

That would be fine.

Bringing him in as the "answer" is not something I'm interested in at all.

I think that's what you are also saying, but I wasn't entirely clear. For me, Aiyuk without another obvious starter signing is not an option. They can't just "figure it out" with Terry + Aiyuk + Burks + McCaffery + Lane. They need better than that because you can't count on Aiyuk's health or mental state.

They need an upgrade at RB. To me they need to spend either in the draft or FA on just a much better all around back to be the starter.

I think Ekler would probably have been fine last year as the starter, but not with a ton of carries, as Bill and CRod would have each gotten some carries. However, he went out early, and all the roles shifted.

They need a starter. Bill isn't a starter, at least not yet. Could he be? Maybe. But he's got to improve dramatically on plays when the ball is not handed to him. CRod is a fine, slightly better than replacement level 1st and second down back. McNicols is fine as a slightly better than replacement level 3rd down back. Bill could be the best of the three and a starter, but he's not there yet and if you believe any of the reporting, they don't believe he is going to be there for next season.

They need somebody who is much better than a slightly better than replacement level player.

Definitely sounds like Aiyuk would be the #2 WR signing.

Yeah, I don’t think anybody is saying Aiyuk should be the only guy. The point is, we can get him cheap, which still allows us to sign somebody else as well. It’s really a low risk high reward opportunity falling in our lap and we’d be foolish to pass it up.

Did anybody expect the Giants to go shopping for a top prospect RB? I certainly didn't. They got the 'Boo coming off of injury. They have other needs. It never really crossed my mind they would go for a RB in FA.

Not suggesting you thought they would or it's a bad piece of information you posted. I just don't know why it's even being reported...

Agree. Unless we sign a bell cow I’d rather not bother. Leave the spot open for Love and use that money toward a better player elsewhere like TE or C.

I never believed that either. Doesn’t make sense. Most likely something they put out there to try to throw other teams off the track.

Interestingly, Mark Bullock, who granted, isn't a reporter and doesn't really "know" anything, but he said he thought they would just sign Aiyuk and call it a day.

I think that's wrong. I don't know where he got it from, but he sortof stuck to his guns on it on the Galdi podcast.

I'm almost assuming that Aiyuk is going to end up here if he's released. I don't think we're going to trade for him though. And I have no problem with that if he's the "take a shot on" guy for this season. If that hits, it's a great return on very small investment. If it doesn't, it's not a big investment.

I'm much more interested in who the other WR they bring in. In an absolute ideal world, they get Pierce or something, and Aiyuk is healthy and they compete for playing time. That means they could get three absolute studs on the field at WR at the same time. That would be amazing.

And they could have their version of a NASCAR WR package, and get Terry/Pierce/Aiyuk/Lane on the field at the same time? Man, even if it was just to run off coverage for a QB draw, defenses would have to respect the speed.

Wrong thread for this, but I think some damn genius is going to grab Love in the top 5. Because some team is going to get scared off one of the DE's or Tate because of underwhelming measurables.
