The 2026 Free Agency Thread

You don't trade a top 5, maybe top 3 LT you have under control. It's totally bananas that the Texans traded Tunsil to begin with.

They're going to pay him. Tunsil might want to wait out William's contract, but he is older, not in his prime. They should pay Tunsil more than Williams. I think they will.

I guess I'm nowhere hear as worked up over this one as I was about McLaurin. I thought McLaurin was going to be tough from the get go. This should be relatively easy. You have a top 3 guy, you pay them a top 3 contract. Done.
What is crazy is that the Texans O-line improved last year.

TE clearly Okonkwo and Likely. Seems for those two there is a limit as what they are willing to spend so if the bidding gets out of hand they are out. I would guess they must have another backup idea at TE but if so Keim hasn't heard who.

RB tough to tell -- Keim did throw Etienne out there in a podcast with Standig. But its not something I've heard more than once. lol, that's usually my thing as to decoding Keim -- multiple mentions matter

Keim not off to a bad start -- minor things but he didd say on podcasts he expects Wise, and D. Jackson back.

I agree that you could read the TE situation that way, but O literally can not fathom how they would go into the season with Sinnott and Bates as the primary TE’s, and no veteran TE that is actually at least a decent receiving threat. We are worse at TE than at receiver right now I think.

I've had to mute that guy on facebook because of some of his practices.

He has had information at times, but a lot of it feels like that stuff to me.
Could be, Primus. He is reporting what others have but I think it's speculation and we will see after next season. It has to play out.

If someone on the inside with this team is speculating on how next year is going to play out for terry and calling it a grim scenario then we need to find out who these idiots are and shitcan them post haste.

Devin Lloyd, Isaiah Likely, and Connor McGovern are my day 1 targets. I’d be thrilled with 2/3.

Big year for AP, the cash and cap space is there to compete with others, 3 big acquisitions needed, let’s see what pull he’s got.

3 major acquisitions perhaps but he needs to nail many more than that plus kill the draft! And welcome !

Get LT extended
Interior OL bulked up
Major RB upgrade needed
TE
WR 1b alongside Terry
Overhaul on D, Edge, LB, corner and safety all needed.

Oh and get a kicker.

Massive pressure on AP to show up. Exciting week ahead.

Yup we need upgrades all over the place like you've mentioned plus decisions on who is behind Jayden...Thank goodness the long snapper is signed and that Rivera is making any decisions :ROFLMAO:

It feels like whether they are right or wrong they feel like WR is code red. And as far as TE, they want one but could live with bringing back Ertz and believe this system is better for Sinnott than Kliffs. But feels like they get a TE but they don't have the same code red take of that spot versus WR.

Seems like they feel the code red spots that they must got one of the top FAs - WR, Edge, CB

So funny. Defense gets one line......When the best defense in the league just won the Super Bowl. This is the current state of football.

Reading his post it appears to me your gripe is more with sentence structure than the current state of football.
No not really. Defense was an afterthought. Is what football is now. No respect for defense at all. Seattle was far from an exciting team ALL YEAR. And yet they took the trophy home. Because of their defense. Defense wins championships. Always has and always will.

I will add our 3 trophies were pretty much won on defense and the running game as well. There is an argument against that for the 93 team. But that defense was still ridiculously good. I was at RFK for the NFCCG. And the first drive of the game was the loudest thing I have ever heard in my life. The sack strip from Mann just set the tone for the rest of that game.

You need both sides of the ball to perform. If we had a top ten defense in 2024 we would have won the Super Bowl.

I think if Jayden was a well established 5 year pro with 3 years of consistent production, I’d lean into defense more. I think everybody just wants to protect who is by far the most important investment in the franchise. We are not as worried about being a little more mediocre this year, if it helps Jayden develop and makes us more likely to win more super bowls in the future

I don’t think they “could live with” Ertz. What Leim said, and I think makes a lot of sense, is essentially IF:
1. They strike out in FA
2. They don’t draft a guy
3. Ertz recovery is going wrll

Then MAYBE they could bring him back during training camp but it’s also likely he couldn’t start the season.

I don’t actually think that’s true. Yeah, the Seahawks won this years SB, and they had a great defense, but they were also a top 5 offense.

And if you go back across the last several SBs, offensive teams have won most of them.

The Eagles and Seahawks were both stout defensively, but they also both had outstanding offenses in the year they won the SB.

It’s still an offensive league. And good offense will still beat good defense.

The SB was a mess because the patriots didn’t have a good offense at all.

Says the master of long sentences and paragraphs!

I just don't see how they can strike out In FA at TE. There are too many TE upgrades that will be FA's and then there's the draft class

We've already had one significant, necessary upgrade at TE, though it was on the coaching staff And I suspect the new offense under Blough will, among other things, utilize current TEs in ways not used the last 2 seasons. I think we'll definitely add one of the top FA TEs, which will only add to the weapons at JD5's disposal.
