Rear Admiral Josh Painter: What's his plan?

Jack Ryan: His plan?

Painter: General Managers don't take a dump, son, without a plan. And they don't start something this dangerous without having thought the matter through.

I think the Noah Brown debacle of 2025 following what we witnessed in his career and firsthand in 2024 is exhibit A on the lack of trust in AP’s planning.

Not saying you are wrong here, I said something similar earlier but it is hard to see the logic without something very close to done or done. Biadasz value was generally accepted to be good for what he brings. We have so many needs, “value” is like gold.

We will have to see how it shakes out.

I wasn’t saying anything, I was simply poking some clever fun at the gazillion comments that included the term ‘plan’ in this thread.

More times than it’s being talked about in the building, that’s for sure.

Couldn’t have gotten like a 5th for him? I find it hard we couldn’t have gotten something.

This is super weird.

They had a really good OL last year at the end and the chemistry was building.

I’m not worried about Tunsil but with all the other needs they just opened one that didn’t need to be opened.

And Lattimore is still on the roster.

It might make sense in a few weeks. But right now it’s just wonky.

FA's Connor McGovern (Bills) and Tyler Linderbaum are the only centers who graded out better than Tyler B. last year.

If this isn’t a smoke screen and Allegretti may actually be our center, then I will be out on AP, officially. I’ve been one of the more critical people here, yet open-minded and eager to see his work this offseason. This…this would be difficult to explain away for anyone. I would immediately want Jayden’s future in someone else’s hands, although it would probably take another couple years to fully play out.

THIS IS THE PROBLEM.

Biadasz is better than average, imo. But it’s not even that part that frustrates me. It’s that now we have a hole across THE ENTIRE LEFT SIDE OF THE OFFENSIVE LINE.

Left Guard and Center… and Tunsil needs an extension.

Make it make sense. Please. I beg someone.

For the sake of fuck. Get off the Tunsil sauce man. I don’t get the Biadasz cut either but you’re going ape over a simple and obvious extension. No it’s not the same thing as Terry. Gawd.

I’m not defending the cut. It’s weird. Like off the field weird.

I’ll get off the Tunsil thing when he’s signed. Otherwise, you’ll have to deal with it.

It’s relevant to the conversation.

Have a great night.

I don’t think Allegretti was a good guard but he could be an ok center. I’m wondering if they view his football IQ/communication ability as being better than Allegretti’s. Maybe they view that as offsetting the inferior individual play

I certainly think it’s a position we should have been targeting Day 3 of the draft to sit behind whoever the starter was. This kind of seals it

I certainly don’t think we are screwed at center in FA either. There are a healthy number of solid options

But why RELEASE him?
For me, the question is why release him now? I mean, I get the idea of wanting to do right by players and giving them ample opportunity to find a new home, but they could have waited until they had a deal in place with another center during the legal tampering period. Maybe there is something to the thought that Alegretti is a suitable backup plan if FA (or the draft) doesn’t go their way?

I do think we could stand to get a better run blocker at the position. And/or perhaps they don’t love Biadasz’ fit with the qb under center?

I’m holding out hope that our FA outcome looks like ‘24 but on steroids, rather than a slightly improved version of ‘25…

I can’t believe they’re not going to resign Jayden Daniels! #2 overall, NFC championship game in rookie year, why isn’t it done yet? I’ll get off this thing when he’s signed. Otherwise you’ll have to deal with it. Have a great night.

Same energy.

Count me in as confused, too. There's got to be something more to the story, doesn't it? From everything I've read he's been at least pretty good since we signed him. I don't want to speculate, but I have to wonder what's going on that made them make this move now.

I mean, I disagree. They couldn't run block. Was that scheme, coaching, player issues...all 3?

The OL was over hyped due to pass blocking improving as the season went on, but the run blocking was not a plus.

For the record I also think this is weird, I'm hoping they explain it in a way that doesn't drag the player through the mud.
