How do you feel about the Commanders Brand 2.0?

  • Vastly improved, if this is THE brand moving forward I’m satisfied.

  • I like the direction, but I still feel more to do. I will/have specified in thread.

  • I don’t like this new direction. I didn’t like the old either. They can’t make this work for me.

I have a Daniels battle black . I liked them--could have been cleaned up a bit. But they're not worth pitching a fit over

It’s been my impression that most fans like the matte finish look. Nothing to back that up, just my sense over the last few years.
 
I’ve liked both, but I give the nod to the glossy, because that is our traditional look. I’m more concerned with the face mask being yellow at this point.

I don’t like the all in one color approach. On the uniform or the helmet.
 
I like the current helmet. It’s actually the only thing I’ve liked about the commander branding. I’d rather they didn’t go to the multiple stripes or change the finish. Most fans seem to want to go with whatever is closest to the 80s look though, so fine with me. At least they are finally listening to what the fans want.

The organization has been placed in an impossible situation. Just look at the Poll. The opinions are all over the place.

Not really. Looking at the poll options only 28.6% love the changes. 28.6% are ambivalent or ‘meh’ regarding the changes. And 42.8% loathe or are not receptive to the changes.

Small sample size but probably reflects the general fan attitude. That’s not exactly a roaring success if you’re the team branding folks. They are screwed - you are right about that. But it’s a screwing of their own making
 
If you combine the groups that like the Greco-Roman direction, are indifferent, or just want the team to win, that’s actually over half the responses. That doesn’t scream ‘roaring success,’ but it also doesn’t suggest overwhelming rejection.

Only around 10% are calling for full restoration of Redskins, and only about 18% feel Commanders can never work no matter what they do. That’s meaningful, but it’s not a majority position. Especially here amongst a mostly legacy representation of the fan base.
 
I don’t think lumping ‘ambivalence’ into the ‘positive’ category is valid. That’s certainly not what our marketing people are looking for. Just sayin’
 
That’s fair, but I don’t see ambivalence as active opposition either.

Bottom line, this brand is still in a transitional phase and not settled yet.
 
For me, I don’t see anything in that poll suggesting that 70/80% of the fan base couldn’t eventually be satisfied with something under the Commanders brand, even if they don’t love it in its current form.

If that kind of long-term consolidation is achievable, most marketing teams would probably view that as a workable position, especially while the brand is still being established.

I think “Commanders” is definitely a total losing proposition for some…but not for most.
 
The part of the fanbase that couldn’t live with the name change is gone already.

I am not saying that the majority of those left won’t or haven’t accepted the changes. Clearly if you want to continue rooting for the team, you have no choice. I wouldn’t confuse grudging acceptance with excitement though. Very few fans are excited about anything to do with the brand. I think any poll done will reflect that. That may change with time as fans who previously rooted for the Redskins dwindle in numbers.

The team, having opted to stick with ‘Commanders’ also has no choice but to try and make it less unappealing.

I like that, a lot. I always liked and wanted the old spear and the name warriors.

It is so hard to match the name Commanders well with things like a spear or like Greco Roman concept with the new logo they leaked out.
