Happy hour starts in 5 minutes
I don’t rake leaves and I don’t shovel snow. Nature takes care of it all for me eventually.
 
Stay warm my friends. Temps dropped to low 60s here in Miami. 🥶
 
I threw Niikki a Frisbee. In the areas where she had already broken through she looked like she had a broken leg. Really struggled. On the fresh snow section an 80 pound dog running after a Frisbee didn't even break through. Yikes.

The plow guy is coming, this is the first time in my life I have hired someone to plow my driveway. But I still have to shovel out in front of the cars. I started the process by breaking the top with a garden shovel, I'll go back after he is gone to see how much I need to shovel.

Not a good idea. They only do small areas, can cause serious damage to the underlying/surrounding grass, etc...and can crack poorly cured concrete. That, and with these cold temps the melted water will refreeze...

Pay him whatever he wants! I've been more of an icebreaker than a snow shoveled and am nowhere near finished. They always seem to push the snow pile on our side of the street when they plow. That sucks donkey balls because it freezes into an ice rock wall that I have to chip away at.
I managed to chip away around the wood pile and made a path to the shed. I'm glad that I laid in plenty of firewood on the covered porch.
I'll do what Boone does when I retire (which is soonl, and let nature take its course...

Agree but I did use it to soften the upper crust. Made it easier to carve out the chunks into manageable size to pry up. It didn’t get close to going through to the concrete.
 
I got in the Jeep Gladiator yesterday and flattened the mound at the driveway apron that the snowplow created. My neighbors are swinging pickaxes this morning trying to break through their mound.

I didn't know this until I was awakened at 4am a few days ago by the house alarm going off. That was the first time in 30 years that I've been woken up to the alarm, so scary stuff thinking someone just busted through a door. I grabbed a gun and did the house search really thinking that I was going to find someone hiding out. By the time I got to the basement and last door, which was still locked, my wife hollered down to me that the cold could trigger alarms.

We've left the alarm off the rest of this week until it warms up some.
 
This may be the biggest pain in the ass snow storm I've ever dealt with. You need a garden shovel, some are using picks, to break through the ice to get to the snow to shovel. I paid the plow guy an extra $50 even though I was out there on my hands and knees breaking off big chunks of ice/snow so we could free the cars.

Then after running errands I had just sat in my recliner and got a call from the wife, she had pulled over to check on a neighbor and got stuck in a snow bank on a blind curve up the road. I couldn't dig it out so we pulled it with a chain. When I got in my car the cold weather and flashers on for 45 minute meant I had a dead battery.

Crappy day for sure. Beats working.

I just took a pick and shovel to the yard because the dog needed more grass to pee.

Agreed, this is one of the worst ever.

I always throw Nikki a Frisbee each morning. She was struggling to get around. Yesterday I decided on the big rubber ball as I felt the Frisbee would be too dangerous. I threw it and she watched it bounce and slide all the way to the back gate, I never imagined she would ever do that.

I'm proud of her but also disappointed that she showed better judgement than her owner.
 
Since my snow blower broke down halfway through this last snowstorm, I had to do the truck mash down by the driveway apron. The snowplow guy only cleared one lane on my street, and it was on the far side of the road which was stupid since most of the driveways on my street are on my side of the road. In other words, once you cleared your apron you still had another 10 feet of road to clear to get to the plowed area.

A snow plow took off the door to our mailbox. I remember when I installed it I had trouble fitting the drill inside for the 2nd screw to sit flat. I'm afraid I may have trouble backing out that screw, don't be surprised if you hear a sawzall running at some point.
 
I had to get a new mailbox, the plow took the door off the old one. There is a way to get reimbursed but I told myself if it's $20 I won't bother. The new one was $20. After putting on the numbers and mounting it to the post I found the door does not close without being pushed hard. Should have gotten the $40 one I guess. I'll give it a few weeks to see if the mail carriers know to close it before thinking of a replacement.
