The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

Pat McAfee? I have news for you.

Or do you mean Fowler/Herbie?
Pat McAfee.

That makes more sense lol. Wife picked a random channel that had it and didn't realize it wasn't the normal telecast, was like "wait why are they talking about Craps tables!?"

Drafts get weird and he probably won't last that long, but Mesidor in the 3rd would be nice. High floor rotational Edge guy for 4 years is nice value at pick 70 or whatever it is.

If we traded back from #7, what would be the highest people would take Mesidor with whatever picks we wind up getting?

He’s going late first in mocks. May be good value there

Bain is a bad man.
He impresses me with his ability to hide his lack of length. I have seen him manhandled a couple of times tonight though when someone gets into his chest. I saw a couple of mocks with us taking him at 7 this week. I would prefer Faulk. He has legit NFL size and power. But if it ends up Bain so be it.

Manhandled is a little strong.

He apparently has a 20%+ missed tackle rate and some of it can probably be attributed to the lack of length

Finally got to a TV. Just started watching as the 1st half is almost over.

Looking for Cooper or Sarratt to separate themselves more from my current impressions of them. I know people here like Sarratt a lot, searching only reveals half a dozen posts containing Cooper, but I think I like Cooper a little more. PFF Big Board has Sarratt at 35th overall and Cooper at 64th FWIW.

I have no idea where that stat would come from. As someone who watches most Miami games there is no shot it’s that high unless they are crediting him for misses on plays that aren’t really misses.

I love when Bain makes a play like that. He’s been doing that all year with his burst and bend.

Bain and Mesidor both notching sacks in the same drive, Scott crashing and gets a nice run stop. Talk about why that defense is so good all in a few plays.

I’m tired of trying to convince myself Bailey is a better overall player than Bain. He’s not. Pass rusher as a singular skill? I’ll give him. I don’t care about arm length. Bain may never lead the NFL in sacks… but he is a non stop destroyer.

Bailey may lead the NFL in sacks but he’s not as well rounded.

Sarratt’s drop was tough, there. Uncharacteristic. Miami in his head.
